God is the "rewarder" of those who diligently seek him. So then we have to know that there is also a certain punisher of those who do not accept or seek him. It's true that our job/effort is to love others. Sometimes that means telling a difficult truth. Those truths may not always sound gentle and comforting. How can we base our love of God on behavior...when only God can judge our motives. It's not then what we do (behavior) , but why we do what we do. Only God knows our whys.

Sry but I didn´t see a quote from the Rambam in which he states that the Tora is not to be taken literally. Those "imaginary believes" and "obscure parables" are the Aggadic midrashim as far as I am concerned.

i agree , nice lecture. but to say god never suspends the laws of nature is incorrect, then he goes on to mention the red sea, not to mention the flood, or burning bush, or the other numerous times god presented himself to us,. , He contradicts himself immediately

Sorry ,do not agree...you are giving wrong informations here .we have to understand in what era rabbi Ben Maimonides lived.A lot of his writings were for the Jews,persecuted under Muslim ruling.....and ready to convert !,,,,,it was not the Torah they had problem with ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

This "Rabbi" needs to review Maimonides' 13 principles... I don't know where he gets the idea that Judaism tolarates agnosticism or that there is no public creed. Someone who doesn't believe fundamental principles EXLUDES themeselves from the community. This is Maimonides 101!!!

Every negative comment here reveals the lack of knowledge and understanding in the speaker. Mostly it is lack of knowledge of Hebrew, and that is very clear to anyone who knows the actual words. The Red Sea was NOT a miracle. A different Hebrew word was used. One that implies Revelation, not God parting the waters. This is not children's literature, it is a Holy Book.

A good lecture. but the phrase 'Judaism is not about belief but about behaviour' was a huge shock. This seems to move away from the core of the Torah that provides the grounds for belief in One God and the Commandments, and seems to uphold ritualistic behavior, as established by the Rabbis is more important. No doubt, the ritualistic behavior of the Jewish people has been responsible for keeping the Jewish people going for 2000 years like the other ancient cultures ie Chinese, or Indian, but at the core, one would expect there is a core of truth that is critical to belief.

You point out a very important issue: Does Go-d intervine in human history for His own sake? Say in other words, regarding currently matters: do we believe G-d was involved in Trump's elections? There are some jews that support this claim but I'm very concern about G-d'd use such a guy for His purposes... I mean, I know Trump's pro-Israel but he incarnates such anti-values that contradicts what I know about judaism...
@Silverwings12346 жыл бұрын
"Judaism" and "Jews" are written with a capital J...... know that firstly. Also as a Christian or a Jew, we all know that G-d is involved in everything. Why choose something as benign as Trumps election? There are multitudes of other more distressed Jewish histories you might question the involvement of G-d. Not Trumps election.
