I find it very hard to accept that large groups of holy Rabbis would burn the books of the Rambam without legitimate grounds for such behaviour. The most logical conclusion is that the Rambam failed to do a thorough job of writing his books in a clear way that would not bring suspicion upon himself. Not only did he not bring sources for his halachic rulings, but he chose minority positions on various issues without explaining his position carefully. In the same vein, the Jewish people had no need for a Moreh Nevuchim if they had the Talmud. He created more doubt in Jewish minds through the questions he raised, than he resolved by his answers. People usually take the Rambam's side in this debate, but there were "Chashuv" Rabbanim in Provence and other areas that rejected his works, so I feel that it is more appropriate to take their side.

Maimonides did indeed identify the prophet like Moses mentioned in Deuteronomy 18:18 as the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in his work "Mishneh Torah". In Book 3, Chapter 37 of "Mishneh Torah," Maimonides wrote: "Moses our teacher commanded us that we follow the ways of prophecy, and that we believe in the prophet who will arise from among the brethren of the Israelites...and this is the prophet Muhammad who arose in Arabia." Maimonides then goes on to cite several reasons to support his view that Muhammad (peace be upon him) was the prophet like Moses. These reasons include the similarities between their prophetic missions, their ability to communicate with people from all walks of life, and their establishment of comprehensive systems of law and governance.

I am struggling with feelings of fear and distress and anxiety for their safety while they are in custody. It's not even a close call. He did wrong. He tortured that poor homeless woman. I felt that he was beating on himself. I wanted somebody to come to her defense then and there, and equalize the situation, it wasn't a fair fight. The officers opponant didn't even know how to fight or defend herself at all. He took an unmanly advantage of her, because he was bigger and stronger, and he had the State at his back, so he could just do any thing he wanted to do to her. Unmanly brute. I was really about that, and I get angry every time I think about it as if it is happening right now. These scenes of violence are very frightening. But I have met some of the people in uniform, and who work for the government. On the whole, they really seem to have a lot of freaky emotional problems of their own, mentally unbalanced,personality disorders, drunkenness, inebriation, medication issues, personality disorders, marriage and family problems, financial problems, ego problems, borderline mentally retarded. Do these freaky emotional problems go with the job? I certainly would hesitate to socialize with them outside of the job. It's probably something in me that mistrust them. I am suspicious of the dichotomy that I see. Nature doesn't like a vacuum and people and professionals seem to be continually living in a vacuum. And I seem to be at cross-purposes with them constantly, and yet the represent the authority and power of the state. I love my country, but I am terribly upset and freaked out and ambivalent and anxious about these uniformed people who represent the power and authority of the state. I don't feel safe with them. Are you sure this is his work cause it awfully reads similarly to early Christians. Maimonades was known to partly reconcile the greek rationalistic way of seeing the world, God and morality. I believe this "new" wave of philosophy made popular by the likes of Plato with the world of ideias and other greek philosophers was seen as problematic to jewish faith, largely due to the tradicionalism in the culture. One of the reasons Maimonades is so popular among jews is because he was a great scholar of the Torah and studied The Law in great detail. No other man had broken down in detail the Torah in a rationalistic manner, without contradicting the pillars of judaism.
