I was going to say the same thing. Americans going to Russia and just showing the "highlights" is bullshit! I love how Sergey (great name) shows every day stuff that is the same but different than other cultures. The honesty just shines through. God bless KZbin.

Love that you're showing places like this as well as traditional Russian fare, gives a window into the city for perspective expats. When I move to SPB, and I'm craving a good old fashioned pastrami sandwich, I'll definitely be checking out this deli.
@rlund6515 жыл бұрын
That sandwich looks amazing! When you film places like this it give me a interesting perspective on Russia that I would not have known. Now we need a Russian food restaurant here in the USA that serves Winter Salad. ;)
@jonkbaby5 жыл бұрын
That is so cool, the look on your face says it all when you are eating the sandwich :). Jewish delis both in New York and Montreal carry with them not only Jewish traditions but also Eastern European food traditions. Pastrami has roots in Turkey and then from Romania, immigrants brought "pasterma" recipes, which was used with pig and goose. Beef brisket was cheap so they formatted the recipe for brisket. At Katz's, they brine the beef anywhere from two to four weeks! I love your unfiltered look of Russia and where you live, and I urge you to keep it up. That is the true "no fake no bullshit" :)

@Hyrum Wood No. The one in OUR hands does not go as deep as a book. Also, every book is different and special in its size, type of paper, appearance, and even smell. Also, reading books feels easier on the eyes, and the turning of the pages gives the reader a sense of progress, until the final page is reached and the book is finished, sometimes giving the reader a sense of disappointment that the experience has been completed in the case of a Good Book. But if a person has seen one e-book, he/she has seen them all. This is a major discouragement for reading an e-book of any length and depth--it's boring. Do you know anyone who has read Gibbon's "The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire" online? Exclusive education from the Internet gives knowledge 1000 miles wide, 5000 miles long, and 1/10 of a millimeter deep. The Internet is irreplaceable, and I am as addicted to it as anyone else. The Internet has helped me in phenomenal ways, and I wish I were much more tech savvy. But books give depth of not just knowledge, but understanding.
