The bravery of Esia Shor and the partisans is mind blowing. Today, one cannot fathom the hardships and dangers they faced, every moment. It is like a movie. Their courage and ingenuity is unbelievable and fascinating. It is so sad that, through time, we are losing this amazing generation of people. We must pass the legacy on. God bless.

I agree with Aviv.....These are very important interviews; they are documents which have to remain when survivors won't be here to tell anymore.

I liked hearing about her most different experience. I keep hearing about partisans and it’s good to hear how they lived and fought.

I don’t think the interviewers are trying to be rude. They are trying to keep the historian on track, try to get their story out in an orderly way when there are SO many memories & stories to remember!

It’s so sad this generation of men & women are almost all gone now in 2024. I just hope the future will show & teach the younger generation of the Holocaust & WWII we can not forget what happened or not pass the history down to younger generations. It’s so sad cause already especially here in the United States & the cancel culture & whacky liberals they don’t want any of this in schools anymore. I just hope parents & family members tell there children about this it’s so important because we never want anything like this happen ever again. God Bless all & all the survivors & All the innocent men & women & children that died during the holocaust.

There are several testiomonies on (by) the Bielsky partisans. This is one of the best by a very lovable and couragous person! One of these tesimonies is by Lillian Bielsky (kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWGlm5SVq62ci8k) who married one of the Bielsky brothers. She had a daughter born while still in the woods, before the end of the fightings. This might be the childbirth Esia is referring to. (This child miraculously survived, ans is possibly still alive.)

I know it is not important but one small correction. Poland was not a homogeous society before the war at all and Jews were not the biggest minority. Poles made up around 70% of the society with Ukrainians making up to 14%. There were also Belarussians, Germans and others.

Sometimes the lack of historical knowledge by the interviewers is painful. (I'm not saying this interviewer is the worst, indeed far from it). Also troubling sometimes is when interviewers lead witnesses too much especially when they don't get the testimony they were expecting or wanting. A better or more nuanced understanding of history (not just "pop" history) would have minimized that.

Hi, Margaret! There are many Polish-language testimonies available. Please visit vhaonline.usc.edu, make a new search in "Experience Groups" for "Jewish Survivor", and select Polish as the language. When you get the search results back, click "Video Available" in the upper left-hand corner and it will return 81 full-length testimonies in Polish. Best of luck!

Jennifer Blane : you have no clue do you? Do you know what is the official language of Poland? Anyway, from how she pronounces the names of towns and streets I would guess she spoke FLUENT Polish. Those Jews who didn’t speak Polish most probably were Russian Jews. After WW-I the western territory of Russia (the infamous Pale of Settlement) become the Eastern part of Poland.
