Thank you so much for sharing your life experiences and suffering with us. Your memory is so clear and the details are so vivid❗ it is heart breaking listening to your long struggle as a young girl who was separated from her dearest mother and sister. What a fortitude, what a great will to live on and refusal to surrender. Thank you for mentioning the employee in the factory who left his bread for you, and the French women who helped the Jewish prisoners.. in Ruvensbruck. It is heart worming to know that in the middle of so many attrocities exist still gestures of kindness. Thank you again so much , I will cherish your words hoping to live a better life.

My thanks to Mrs. Gloria Lyon for sharing the intimate details of her incarceration during the Holocaust on the sole grounds of being Jewish. I do not know if Mrs. Lyon is still with us as it is 2020 but her testimony is as relevant today as when she was interviewed in the late 90s. I am honored to have the privilege of hearing her testimony. Mrs. Lyon’s time in multiple concentration camps was horrible, beginning when she was 14 years old yet she survived and made a wonderful life. Everyone should hear her testimony!

What a beautiful lady inside & out! It amazes me how someone could live through the horror of those concentration camps & come out “unscathed”... what I mean by that she is not bitter, hateful & angry... yes, there are still residual side effects because you cannot forget that horror, but it has only motivated her to share her testimony of what “happens” when people become “victims” because they are “singled out” on the basis of religion, skin color & ancestry “to hate”... Is such a remarkable woman, so articulate & so gracious & loving! Well worth hearing!

I am not Jewish, but I have now watched a few of these Testimonies now. I find them fascinating and just can’t stop watching. It really brings home how horrific and traumatising it must have been. Sadly I believe without doubt this could all happen again. I’d like to think those guards have been traumatised by their own actions till the day they died.

@@zxy78267 YT are very very sensitive about this comment section. They have deleted 2 of my replies so far. We all know how this ends up. We are reliving the same play book with a modern twist right now. I think its about 1937 in the timeline. We will be shuffled into ghettos soon and then onto rail cars, metaphorically speaking. We all know what comes after that and if you look around it is already happening. It was obvious to me back then. Here we are.

I was not born yet when this happend and this testimony from an eye witness is the BEST interview I have heard. The person doing the interview did not interrupt her as I have heard others do, but allowed her to tell her story as she did . I cried when she cried. MY heart goes out to her and to alll those who lived through this horrible time that might still be alive and thier families. There is NOTHING "FACINATING "about this time in history, and if we are not careful, it COULD happen AGAIN.... it only took 1 man .

Amazing story. I got chills just listening to her. I can’t imagine going through something like that. I visited Auschwitz last year, it was very sombre. I can’t believe the evil that happened there and how dehumanised they were. I don’t think I would have survived. Even seeing movies of Nazis terrifies me. She was lucky to survive being a 14 year old girl.

Mrs. Lyon is one of the best, most engaging witnesses in the Shoah Foundation series. She is a wonderfully lively and upbeat storyteller. She is very clear about the tragedies and traumas, but you get the picture of this woman's optimism and strength. Her survival was part determination but also a big part luck, as many other Holocaust survivors have testified. This was really true as her SS captors' actions became more chaotic in the waning days of the war. "They were going to kill me but then they gave me food. Then they beat me unconscious and were killing me again. I came to, finally, and was traveling on a regular train (not a cattle car) with a German voice telling me I was lucky because I was free." I paraphrase her speech but that's the gist of it. How fortunate for all of us that Shoah compiled these invaluable testimonies and made them available to anyone to watch and listen. God bless every interviewer and survivor. And God bless Mrs. Lyon who survives today. Her spirit and resilience is awe-inspiring.

Mrs. Lyon gives such a vivid & moving testimony of survival. It always astonishes me how loving & peaceful Shoah survivors are, after suffering so much. Mrs. Lyon is appreciative & proud of the freedom afforded in America. We must never take freedom for granted. Now, more than ever, we must stand against oppression, racism & persecution. 🇺🇲🙏🏻🇮🇱❤

Her testimony made me laugh, cry and shocked. I appreciate her will to live. She’s done more in one life time than some could in 3. Her granddaughter Elana looks is much like her mother. Her grandsons look like her brothers.

Even though I don't know this wonderful lady, I just adore her. There is something in her spirit that shines through; that makes me want to be best friends with someone like her. I love the way she tells about her being on a bike with a live chicken; it felt good to chuckle. Hearing about all she and others had to endure brought tears to my eyes and I actually found myself shaking my head and trying to stop the crying that threatened. Thank you, God, for bringing so many people out of the hell they went through. I believe in God, in Jesus and in the Holy Spirit, but I have Jewish heritage as well. I truly believe God is love and He is not behind the evil that happened.

Very poise testimony. She didn't say it but "She's done all camps"?... I can imagine the wisdom she acqired coming out of such ordeals. One can explain what's like to go down a roller coaster but it can't be the real thing. I wanted to state that I took good note when she said that she an opportunity to migrate in Israel and later said that she read that there was a commotion in Palestine. No matter what, homosapiens forget what's it like to be expulsed from home from a generation to another.

I wish the organisation would train their interviewers in how to be more respectful to these distinguished individuals whose stories they are privileged to be hearing... I find it so embarrassing sometimes, to hear them cut in and ask something else when the interviewee is in the middle of sharing something important to them, or just move on abruptly to the next question with no recognition of the answer the interviewee has just given or the emotion it has been given with.
