I think משפחה ומשפחה was more about not disrupting family celebrations than about keeping the farbrengen exclusive.

We are family. One big happy family celebration for Purim every year together. Also the Rebbe gave permission for other events to be broadcasted like Lag B'omer and Chanuka which are surely also times for family gathering and celebration.

To shmosel What you wrote seems to be more the meaning of the words משפחה ומשפחה. Lag B’Omer has a minhag of outings and bonfires, with singing and dancing. There no specific mitzvah or minhag of family gatherings. Chanukah has eight days, giving families a variety of opportunities for family gatherings and celebrations. In addition, there is no specific requirement to have family gatherings. Purim has a specific inyan to have family celebrations, as shown by the words משפחה ומשפחה written into the megilla.
