Any one watching this interview 40 years ago from today?! R.I.P Pete & Steve! :(

Pete and Steve were beautiful men. It's sad that Pete had such a negative perception of himself, but all the complaining about his plastic surgeries won't change it. We're fortunate to still have their catalog of music to enjoy and lucky to have had talented guys like them. R.I.P. to both Pete and Steve.

I do believe to this day, that he suffered from body dysmorphia. How can someone this beautiful turned himself into what he was at the end of his days. You could always see the kindness in his eyes, but the way he destroyed his faces was alarming.

I think he suffered from gender dysphoria, too. He's said that he never thought of himself as anything other than male, but you don't get to the extent of FFS that (she) went through and NOT be transgender. At the time that she was going through all of this, there really wasn't much education or talk on gender dysphoria. In the beginning she was a beautiful male, she became a beautiful woman I think in the 1990's, and then it was all downhill from there.

I think that his childhood and relationship with his mother really scarred him, and left him with a lot of mental health problems later in life. Watch the “Psychic therapy” documentary of him on KZbin to see what I mean. A lot of what the “medium” therapist says is absolute rubbish, but Pete does open up a lot about his upbringing and it makes sense as to why he grew up with a lot of problems later on.

@@atlantic_love He always defined himself as a man, and never had the will to change his body into a female's one. According to him, his first surgery has no esthetic means, since he got his nose broke after being headbutted. That's the story behind his famous eye patch, so no one would pay attention on his nose job.

Read the comments below ! ...Yes yes... maybe he was a problematic person but.... many years after his death ... and even more years after the end of his career.... dozens of people again, talk and write posts about him every week... and remain shocked or amazed by the image of his person .... and maybe that's what he wanted to achieve ! I don't think he was a weak person... Even if a person doesn't know who he is ... and who he wants to be (o become)... if he fights to achieve the goals he desires, with that conviction and that determination, overcoming difficulties and pain (of heavy surgeries... but not only that, also the attacks and the blame of many people)... it cannot be said "weak" ! after all, in any case, he was the charismatic leader of that band !
