Ponders End

I was born in The North Middlesex Hospital in 1945 and was born and raised in Ponders End. My family lived in Broadlands Avenue and backed onto the railway about 200 yds North of what is now Southbury Station. I went to Southbury Road Primary School and then Edmonton County Grammar along the Cambridge Road. I haven’t been back for 30 or more years and it is almost recognisable now but your pictures bring back many memories. I could go on and on but I won’t!!! Many thanks for some great pictures.

Great photography you have there. Ponders End has changed quite a lot over the years, but I seem to like the old Ponder End to the new, but times have to change. Great work. 👍👍👍

Thanks for that and yes you are right about the changes to Ponders End which is something I blow hot and cold on, I like looking back on the past especially the happy days and times spent in the Falcon but we have to accept change whether for better or worse . All the best ... John

very nice john my old maisonette in south street is still there but so much change and for the better kestral house wow looks so much better infact the whole area looks better

Thanks Rachel they are only halfway through the ten year regeneration program with the last tower block and remaining maisonettes gone by the end of the year .

I grew up round them ends now I live in Manchester I don't even recognise the place I then moved to near the great Cambridge Rd Enfield a Cross from the beef eater pub they was good times

Irish people were in Southgate ponders end, Edmonton green London Enfield, John, Tottenham seven sisters, were British and ponders end, Southgate, Edmonton green,Enfield Town Only IRISH! I found a comment here, explaining about Afghanistan, i think, I like to see that country...... you know John, you are right they keep cutting the green spaces, but we need the green spaces for pollination not pollution for composte for honey this area, has so much crime what is going on here, by the way? Ponders end Southgate and Edmonton green, was only African irish and Bangladesh that's it, what is diversity, anyway? Demolish some houses,so they can wash their horses streets more clean, bigger cars,wider streets cars houses and bug as well, and taller people, most of the things here, aren't organic,we need to make everything more organic,again and expense these areas,like muswell hill..... make them even better,than, muswell hill

I would say widening the streets more wide cars more tall and cutting some houses so some others, can be more wide more big..... and fixing curlew house why demolish it? Maybe the irish people, can come here if we try to clean the ambience environment pollinate not pollute, and spurse the irish people back lexical truth 😂😂😂😂😂😂
