This might be Elliott’s best song. There’s something about it that just hits differently. It’s like knowing the end of a movie you really love or thinking about a old lover. Knowing what happens to Elliott and the title give the song a feeling of mixed emotions. Bittersweet. The video doesn’t help as it feels like something you’d see for memorial service. The song doesn’t need to have lyrics as I feel like it conveys all it needs to. A crescendo to a slow fade out. Hopefully Elliotts having fun where ever he is. See you in heaven

I'm laying in bed reading the comments, crying buckets. Elliott Smith's music got me through some of the hardest moments of my life. No words could ever possibly articulate the breadth and depth of the emotions this man has made me feel. To Elliott: we've laughed, we've cried, we've shared failures and successes. There were times when you were my closest friend, and we've never even met. You'll live on in my soul forever. I make 11 years clean next month.

My ex-girlfriend used to love this song. She was the person who introduced me to Elliott Smith and a lot of other great artists. She was my best friend and my first love, we got together as late teens and stayed together for almost 6 years. Never have I loved someone in my life as much as I loved her, and even though things didn't work out in the end and we separated in pretty bad terms, I always appreciated the good times we had together and the almost unhealthy obsession with Elliott Smith we shared. Yesterday morning she was found dead by her mother, lying on the ground in her room next to her bed. Even though we didn't have any contact at all lately, it really fucking hurts. You were the love of my life, Zoe. You were and always will be my first love and the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. Even though I was extremely hurt for a long time by the way you ended our relationship, I never wanted to see this happen. Deep down I always wanted you to be happy. I will never forget you, Zoe. Sometimes, when I feel stressed with life, I'll listen to this song. I'm an atheist, but I'd like to think I know what Elliott was talking about when he wrote "See You in Heaven". This song has such an uplifting melody to it but in the back of your head you know the person behind it couldn't make it himself. This song means more than the world to me. Rest in Peace, Elliott, 1969-2003.

Im an atheist too. But I remember being a little kid, about 7 or 8 and having a penpal at school we would write to.
