Was your governor on? The Engine RPM shouldn't be changing like that. It should be governed within the green automatically by the governor. You should be changing the Manifold Pressure when you're moving the throttle. C W Lemoine has been learning the R22 on his channel and he's done a great job of explaining everything and showing how the R22 is to fly.

It's a fake simulator if they don't have you do maintenance to the hanger doors. Oh you have to use the easy roll wheels but you just tap a button to open the hangar doors? Unrealistic.

When you set the throttle to 102% you should leave it there. The low rpm is supposed to come on, the governor will manage throttle for you during flight

Something I've learned about hovering a helicopter: If you move the cyclic, you've moved too much.

150 hours in R-22s. One flight, one of the belts parted and jumped tracks. Luckily, we were in the downwind of the pattern at a low-traffic Mount Pleasant, SC, airport and just immediately landed. Another flight, up at Anderson, SC, we took off toward the lake and noticed oil pressure entering the yellow band. We turn back, and as we were approaching the helipad, the R-22 "Old Drippy" started running rough. My instructor took the controls and landed. Oil had mad it past the cracked cylinder head, gummed up the plugs, and so we were running on 3 of 4 cylinders firing. Fun times! These are hardy aircraft.

I haven't flown an R 22 in almost 20 years, but I think you forgot to turn the governor on, that's why you had to work the throttle at take off and had a low rotor rpm warning. Once the governor is on it handles throttle while you fly... as I remember.

i love that concept in a flight sim, being able to fully walk around and manipulate your airplane/helicopter i think this format would work really well with a GA type airplane aswell

Just an FYI, in the real aircraft, during normal operation, you shouldn't need to touch the throttle, you set it during the start up and pre takeoff procedure, then you leave it alone. The aircraft has mechanical system which automatically makes the required throttle adjustments due to collective movements using a combination of a correlator (for course adjustments) and governor (for fine adjustments)

I downloaded this sim recently as a means of getting some simulation experience prior to going to my local heliport and receiving training. To put it simply I wasn't expecting the level of detail that this sim has. Because the sim is still 'Early Access' there isn't much to guide a player other than "flick this switch" or "check cyclic/collective", which to a total newbie mean absolutely nothing, and the sim currently doesn't really explain what these terms mean, so this sim combined with self-learning online makes for a great basic introduction to get the absolute basics down along with an introduction to terminology.

I hope they make a full game BASED on medical helicopters, where you can actually go to scenes, pick up the pt, and take them to the hospital.

That sim is impressive. A.C.E.S. Flight Simulation at the Mall Of America had a Bell Jet Ranger 206 sim which I "flew" several times. I piloted light aircraft in real world, but never rotary wing. As a passenger in a 206, combined with extensive reading, I had a fair knowledge of what was needed. Very quickly I learned that smooth and gentle on the controls was the secret. A.C.E.S. closed up shop a few years back, then the owner died from a heart attack a few months later. It was great while it lasted. I also learned a new respect for helicopter pilots. I love the Robinson R-22. I was enrolled in helicopter flight school at the Long Beach Airport in California at $500 a week in 1980. I canceled and returned my books and got the first $500 back because my dad was paying for it and I decided that I didn't want to cost him that much money. This sim is very in depth and I would like to see you fly more on it. Thanks!

Im a commercial rated rotor pilot... you did ok :) In a R22 you want about less than 300 fpm when you are less than 30 knots to avoid settling with power :)

Thanks Jeff. I've been wanting a helicopter flight sim for some time. There have been some attempts at it but not with the real sensitivity that this one shows. I also love the pre flight inspection detail. This is also missing from previous helicopter sims and things like Euro Truck 2 and American Truck Simulator. Now if I can just get someone to buy me a set up with a collective, pedals and cyclic, woo hoo!
