This song saved my life, I was a horrible drunk and drug addict from the age of 15 till I turned 38, and laid on my death bed. I have been clean and sober for nearly 19 years and now work for a place that helps others get clean and take back control of their lives

GOD bless you. Reaching out and calling out TO JESUS is the salvation and deliverance for any soul that knows its need. sometimes, as the testimony of Kris makes clear, sometimes HE DRAWS US EVEN WHEN WE DON'T KNOW OR RECOGNIZE OUR NEED. !

This song is an anthem of redemption. Kristofferson is not a man who usually struggles to express his thoughts. It's amazing to watch him struggle with the story behind this song because it requires such a public display of deep humility. And that takes courage. Kristofferson has always been a very genuine individual with strong doses of honesty and integrity. That's why Johnny, Waylon and Willie made him the 4th member of the Highwaymen.

A song, a great song ever written by a Country Singer who met Jesus Christ, in a humble Church of a real Preacher who led Kris into Heaven's Fold. I cry tears every time I hear this song, because I know, that I AM A SINNER who always needs JESUS CHRIST, and my soul is in HIS HANDS...

What a powerful beautiful song. I sobbed listening to this song because it reminded me of my father who sang country music and played guitar. My dad's voice was equivalent to the great George Jones, Hank Williams Sr. My father could have been a great country music singer but sadly my father had a lot of tragic things happen in his life. I love and miss my father dearly every day, he was a great man. I love and miss you dad and we will be together again one day. Give mom a kiss for me and tell her I love and miss her too.

It has happened. But thanks be to GOD Kris Kristofferson, his testimony on Ralph Emory show, was the most beautiful and powerful and truthful I have ever seen. To be in show business it could have ended his career. To see the faces of some of the entertainers sitting there with shock and awe was awesome. I wrote the words of Why Me Lord and put it in my Bible. I some time say that song as a nightly prayer 🙏. GOD bless Kris and may GOD use him and Why Me Lord In a powerful way.

I believe he made life just a bit easier to struggle and live through. Knowing that the son of God has been where the rest of his children have been, gives us a way to relate to him on a level we'd never been able to before. Thank God for that gift. Jesus, while holding a mirror up to humanity, shows us how flawed we really are, and that it's ok, and like a father, will always still love us despite our shortcomings. A saying around here, "the Acadians" (like me), goes like this, "Nobody's perfect in this world. In our entire history there's only ever been one man who was perfect, and we crucified him for it", *(roughly translated from French to English). My father, now 83, used to sing this song in the morning all the time. It warms the heart every time I hear it. I appreciate having him around still. Thank God

I agree…..its one of the most honest and vulnerable testimonies I’ve ever witnessed. I looked up your website and it mentions Paul’s quote that we are “spirit, soul and body”. I had kind of a similar experience as Kris’ testimony explained, in that my head was saying “no way” yet I guess you could say that my spirit got affected and took action, while my soul and body had to play catch-up to what was happening in my spirit…..?

Hearing Kris telling the story of how "Why Me Lord" came about reminds me so much of how I eventually accepted Christ as my saviour, and hearing this song brings back so many memories, many of which still leave me in tears! I was struggling through life without any care or regard for anyone except myself. I was drinking, gambling and fighting and eventually my long suffering wife had enough and left me. It hit me hard, so hard that I couldn't handle it and tried to commit suicide - And I nearly succeeded. I thank God that someone found me still barely alive. When I recovered I was "introduced" to God and I have never looked back since! Thank you Kris and God bless you for this video which brings back all of those memories and for the tears of joy which now fill my eyes!

Those of us that quit can really understand this one. You and the habit become one. It not only owns you, and all that you have, it consumes you, if ya don't quit, the answer always seems to be to OD and nod hard one last time. Thank God I was able to get clean after ten years wasted. So, Kris nailed it. "Why Me Lord?" Thank you so much Lord. Without you, I wouldn't be here.

This is my husband's favorite song of all times.. we have both questioned God a lot when we lost our 20 yrs old son. Nothing could be worse, and we drifted away from God for a while. One day, I just fell to my knees and asked God why He had left me and not helped me. I heard God say, "I didn't leave you, you left me." That was an awakening. I still don't understand why my only child was taken, but I do know one day I will be with him again, and it will be then when I understand..

Sometimes I believe that when God take someone home that's so young that he has special plans for them. Or maybe he wants to prevent them from going through something in life that would have been so bad. I think he loves the young ones so so much because even in their early 20's they are still just babies in Christ. Maybe he makes them an Angel that a tiny child fighting cancer here on Earth that might need. I can't think of anything that could be worse than loosing a child. It has taken a very long time for me to come to grips with loosing my Husband. I could not imagine one of my 2 children. It took me 14 years to finally realize that after everything I've been through and it's been alot. But we all have a story. Again nothing like loosing a child. But for 14 years I've want to die. I literally wanted to die. 2 days after his funeral I sat with 2 bottles, ( 240 ) 80mg Oxycontin pills that had been delivered 2 day after he passed. He had cancer. His pain meds came directly from the laboratory. They had already been ordered from Dr and had been in route when he died. So I'm sitting there and all I could think of was how I didn't know how to live without him. My kids were 19 (daughter) and a 17 year old son. She had moved out 2 weeks before he was diagnosed. She offered to move back but I told her if be ok. My son still lived at home. So at his funeral after everyone paid their respects I walked up to the casket one last time before his eulogy. All of a sudden I felt 2 arms around my waist. O e on each side. I suddenly realized it was my kids. He raised them but was not biologically their Dad. Anyway when I realized it was my kids standing there to comfort me. I had never been more proud of them in my life. I cherish them and at that moment without saying a word I knew that they cherished me to. So as I'm about to open the pills and start swallowing as fast as I could. All of a sudden this great big picture flashed crystal clear in my head. It was my two kids standing beside a casket in such despair, crying so hard. Just those two, trying to comfort each other because they had no body left. All they had was me and I had been so selfish in my own pain that I wanted to be with my husband so bad that I didn't even think about them. In a flash I jumped up and ran to the bathroom and flushed all 280 pills down the toilet. God intervened that day. Then I realized he has a reason for all that he does. We don't always understand why but if we can trust in him that in time he will make it right as long as you have faith and trust in him. I think what I'm trying to say is maybe if you try to think of your son in such a way that God didn't take him from you he just needed him for a while. He's an angel in maybe the form of a little friend to a child that's gonna pass and your son is there because out of everyone on this entire planet your son was the only one good enough to do this job and when the time comes his job will be over and your tour on this is over to. You'll reunite again in heaven. That's how I kind of look at it with my husband. My kids are 33 and 35 now. I have 2 grandson's and a beautiful granddaughter. They all still need me here that's why he stopped me from taking those pills and as for my husband. God needed him for something and one day I'll know and we will all reunite in that glorious place he prepared for us called Heaven. 🤗 God Bless you and your husband. I don't know if I made any sense just know my heart is in it and I mean well.

We don't understand why the Lord choses some to die. We only know we miss them. I went to church to listen to a sermon. After the sermon the preacher spoke about things only God and myself would know. The preacher then said that the Lord wanted her to pray for me. I realized that God loved me. I had loved him pretty much all my life. I had not been perfect. I had made a lot of mistakes. Someday you will see your son again. I believe he is with Christ. Keep working for the Lord in this life. Because he gave his son for your sins.

I was driving from San Antonio to Houston right after it was announced on the car radio that a new group was formed called The Highwaymen. When a I heard who it included, I decided that I had to go see them at the Cynthia Mitchell Pavilion in Woodville for my birthday. I got tickets that I miraculously been turned in and six of us went in September. The seats were in the front row and June Carter Cash was in the next row to the side of us. It was a fantastic evening and the first time I had ever knowingly heard kris kristopherson. Recently in a tribute to him, I found out that he had written The Highwayman song and many others that I loved; but I never realized he was the composer! What a wonderful talent he has AND a Rhodes Scholar to top it off!!

Oh, you know it's Kris's time to get on his knee's, and know me, so I'm going to arrange a Come to Jesus meeting with him. Then I am going to drop a song in his heart that will go out and accomplish the same for many others." Mission Accomplished! What a testimony that was. Bless his heart for sharing the story that goes to the song. That makes the song even more powerful. Just on these comments alone there are people who came to Lord through this song. Just know, it wasn't an accident. He had your name on the list before the song ever got wrote.

So humble, such a simple testimony which is why God heard the pureness of his heart. Man looks on the outside and God looks on the heart. All through the Bible, God chooses the least expected person to be a testimony for his Glory. In the Bible it says that the first in this life will be the last and the last in this life will be first. Jesus, the son of God will hear the simplest softest cry for help…that’s why in the Bible it says,”Be still and know that I am God.” This song is a testimony in itself.
