I’ve seen some of the old videos and compared to the new ones, you definitely grew as an actor. Keep up the good work and who knows where we might see you in the future ;)

@@JasonFarries I have a quick question, would it be a bad idea to have multiple scenes from the same project, or is that a bad idea?
@JasonFarries
@JasonFarries 3 жыл бұрын
@@mikkelkvt1621 depends. You want to show variety so if the two scenes are showing something wildly different, go for it. Otherwise, pick the better of the two scenes and feature that

@@JasonFarries Alright thanks, man! If I were to go for 2 scenes from the same project, would you recommend having them right next to each other or with a different movie in between?
@JasonFarries
@JasonFarries 3 жыл бұрын
@@mikkelkvt1621 it could work either way. Perhaps put two different versions of the reel together and watch them separately. Then ask yourself, which version is more entertaining? Because after all, the main thing you want to achieve is a showreel that casting professionals enjoy watching and are engaged

Hi Jason, great work, I am an aspiring actor and I just moved to London. I have a showreel as well which I can show you because I fear that by only doing uni projects I doubt I will get any calls. Also if I could ask you some questions about what to do and generally how to work in London as an actor would help me a lot!

It’s so annoying that most agencies require a showreel. When being an ‘extra’ you only have little work and limited screen time so to make a showreel is impossible. How do you even make a showreel with little experience? Moreover, how do you get the experience…

Hey Lauren. Totally understand your dilemma. It can take time to get enough footage from jobs to create a showreel. When I first started it took me months to get a showreel together. There are a few solutions you can try just to get you started with a basic reel and then once you start getting more featured jobs you can slowly improve on it and make it better and better. First thing you can do is film a monologue yourself. There's a misconception that a showreel needs to be footage from professional work. It doesn't. It just needs to show you acting, as long as the video and sound is clear casting directors and agents can appreciate what you look and sound like. Then they might invite you to audition if they think you fit the character. These days, your phone has a good enough camera to film with. So just record a monologue on there and use that as your first showreel. The second thing you can do, if you are willing to invest, is hire a showreel company to create a professional scene for you. Black Elk Productions is based in the UK and does great work for their clients. A scene costs about £500 and you'll get loads of business advice too. Thirdly. If you're in the UK, there's a great company which runs casting director workshops in London. You get to read a scene in front of a casting director and they also film it and send you the footage. That footage is also useful for a first time showreel. The company is Run At It Shouting and it's a great way to network, meet casting directors and ask them questions, and of course get a bit of footage of you reading a scene with a partner. They're also a great price. I hope that helps. It's a difficult business but if you keep at it, you'll get there eventually. Best of luck
