Jack was born in Turek, Poland in 1924, the fourth of five children. At age fifteen, while outside walking, he was taken by Germans to a labour camp in Poznan.
In 1943 he was sent to Auschwitz, where he was tattooed with the number 140964, then sent to work in Fürstengrube coal mine, where conditions were appalling.
In 1945 he was on a death march, ending up on one of four ships, loaded with other prisoners, in the Baltic Sea. Suddenly bombs fell. The Allies had attacked the ships, thinking they were full of escaping Nazis. Jack was lucky to survive, the only survivor from his family.

My Dad was of this era, a Jewish man in a neighbouring country. He went through the same thing. I wish I’d asked him and my grandparents more.

He is alive to tell his story and that is proof that God was with him. We are meant to live and die BUT how they suffered is the scary part . How people were killed by evil forces ... it is sad .

Regarding@23:14. The RAF didn´t care only 5 (!) days before WWII did end in Europe (on May 8th 45) to identify the targets they did hit and killed ~7000 concentration camp prisoners on this day. The ships (Cap Arcona and sister ship) were so overcrowded with prisoners- even on the deck in plain sight of the RAF-pilots - that ".. the RAF mistaken did believe they´re German soldiers" is quite a pathetic attempt to excuse this crime against humanity.

He missed to mention several camps (eg. Mittelbau and Bergen -Belsen) where he did stay during the evacuation from Fürstengrube. Thank God we can find all documents in archives.

"Jack worked in labour camps in the Poznan area until early 1943" @5:49. And then he explains "we arrived in the evening...I don´t know at which time but it was dark" In fact did he arrive only on August 27th 1943!

Why are people who comment so critical of the survivors. I agree with the comment of the person that said “were you there?” Also, the comment about his shortness of breath. My goodness, how cruel.

That hangings were always on a sunday is utter nonsense. They were often after the evening roll call when the prisoners returned from labor to the camp.

Thank you so much for sharing with me an infamous fragment of the Hitler's Nazi horrendous regimen. It must be a very sad sad odyssey to recount it. The crimes and cruelties committed against my sons and daughters, my fathers and mothers, my brothers and sisters hurt me deeply, regardless their ethnicity and nationality. In Isaiah 2: 4, Jehovah God, the Creator and Source of life, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, promises: "He will be judge among the nations and will settle matters in relation to many peoples. They will turn their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. The nations will no longer raise their swords against each other and learn no more to wage war." My immediate neighbors are Jews and I am a Jehovah's Witness. Their hearts are superior than pure gold by far. They are extremely kind. The gentleman takes care of my trash can every Wednesday without my asking him to do so. They are lovely human beings, and they are not in need of the smallest improvement.

Sadly he thinks that he saw a doctor on the ramp who wear a white coat. But in reallity the SS-staff didn´t wear white coats there. Not the guards nor the men (pysicians, dentists, pharmaceuts, etc.) who did the selections.

Why did you wait long enough to comment? Please try not to disrespect older people..people with disabilities etc. You will also be in that position soon enough. Let's hope no one treats you like you are this gentleman who has been through hell.

@@sardarnikaur6258 clearly you don’t understand western humor. I’m actually telling Kevin - he’s heartless. (In a light hearted way ). Kevons comment was insensitive. I’ve actually met this man and he’s not disabled at all. He’s adorable and how he speaks is just his way.

Rosita...God is always present. He didnt do this...humans did. Since the fall we are all born in sin..all born inherinantly evil. If you doubt my words observe young children...born with no values, born liars. Through Gods mercy we are able to accept redemption through acknowledging Christs sacrifice and our repentence. Those who have no repentence remain as they were born in sin and are destined for eternal hell and damnation. So you see God has not done this, humans without remorse have done this. God provides good not evil.
