A very nice video. My mom and her family left Bialystok in 1934; they settled in New York. But my grandmother had two sisters both with families, and my grandfather had a sister. All stayed behind in Bialystok and (as far as we know) they all perished. I have many photographs from 1928 to 1938; I cannot read the handwritten text and, I cannot find anyone to translate it (I tried with a friend -- she reads yiddish, but she could not decipher the handwritten notes on the photographs). Anyway, thank you again for this video.

A place I will visit when next in Melbourne. I visited the Sydney Museum some years ago. A valuable, sobering and informative experience. Reality. Wonderful people as guides. Highly recommended. A memorial to ordinary people, families, and children going about their lives, and caught up in monstrous horrible events.

Why are people who comment so critical of the survivors. I agree with the comment of the person that said “were you there?” Also, the comment about his shortness of breath. My goodness, how cruel.

As of today, May 8th, 2024 many people have totally forgotten what happened in Europe starting in 1933. Never forget has fallen on death ears. I am so sorry for what is happened. I am a Catholic gentile, and my heart blades for the Jewish people, and Israel.

it should be said that like anti Semites exist in non jews there are pockets of jews that hate non jews the main difference seems to be only one group can fall back on a moral high ground because of the holocaust. I never ask a persons religion if someone's an ass to me I call them an ass not their entire race religion.

Thank you very much for your precious Memoiren. In our region , we know where Odilo Globocznik spent his early life, but it takes the memories and faces of survivors and victims until we can fully understand what is the connection between Klagenfurt and Byałystok.

She can be appreciative for surviving while acknowledging her loss emotionally from this period in her life. It’s not that simple and she shouldn’t have to be grateful for surviving.

How sad it is to watch history repeating itself. To watch politicians once more demonizing civilians from both sides as being unworthy of of a ceasefire and unworthy of sanctity due to grotesque overspending and mismanagement that neighbouring nations have within their own countries. We will be witnessing a new holocaust due to this negligence and failure of democracy. Reason has departed the cultural zeitgeist. Now the conversation centres solely on winning and losing, on beating the other side rather than working towards a compromise.
