Organised by BJ Madical college. First was Pt Vasantrao, second was Kumarji, last to sing was pt Bhimsenji...it does not get better than this evening. I remember it as it was next to our home then

श्री आदि कुलकर्णी आपण कुमारांनी गायलेला सुरांचा खजिना रसिकांना मुक्त करून दिल्याबद्दल आपले ऋण मानावे तितके कमीच आहे. यातील अतिशय विस्ताराने गायलेला राग मालवती समाधी अवस्था निर्माण करणारा आहे. यातील मध्यम असंख्य पद्धतीने कण स्वरांनी विभुषित करून गायला आहे. कुमारजींची एकेका स्वरांचे सौंदर्य उलगडून दाखविणारी गायकी थक्क करणारी आहे.

Could you describe how performing with Kumarji was like? Have read a lot about him but would love to hear the perspective of someone who has been around him and accompanied him so long! Thank you for posting rare programs on your channel too.

@@savinkhadka. Very difficult to describe in few lines.My father Vasant Achrekar accompanied him for more than 30-35 years and myself for 12 years.Apart from great artist he was great,very knowledgeable and disciplined person.

Is this the natural reverb of the hall/ auditorium or have you added it later when you "digitally remastered" it?

@@TallGreyMan it's been added later to improve the listening experience and making it immersive.

@@AdeeKulkarni It doesn't really improve the listening experience, it makes it mildy tacky, adds an artificial flavour, and it ruins the authenticity of the actual (historic) recording. But I guess that was the only way you had to make this recording palatable to a gullible, sonically illiterate audience.

@@TallGreyMan Thank you for your review. The original recording was, we'll say, not so hearable. I tried multiple remastering techniques, and partially succeeded. But the only way to make it presentable was to add the reverb. Your view is appreciated and taken into account.
