Duran is going from 75,000 a week pre tax at Villa to 322,000 a week tax free in Saudi. The man is going to be making ten times more per week in Saudi and 21-22 million per season tax free for 5.5 years. More people, including these pundits, need to realize a large percentage of players are not playing for legacy nonsense. It’s purely about absolutely maximizing their earnings in a limited career span. That’s it’s. It’s the same exact reason why so many talented South Americans, Africans, etc leave their home countries and continents in the first place. To make more money. Get that through your heads people. This is a business.

I agree with you 100%. I always come across people who think that players should be loyal to clubs, when clubs throw away players to the dustbin if they find another player... so, any player should grab the chance to make a lot of money, because they can get injured or dropped by their current club.

Duran did not leave Colombia to play in England because he loves Aston Villa. He did it because he got the opportunity to make money, coming from a life of poverty. He is going to make more money in Saudi (tax free) than 85-90% of premier league players. It's a job, he did the right thing in going.

@sunilps93936 күн бұрын
Well said. 💯The Pundits are concerned about his passion as a footballer because Colombia is a country playing in the World Cup and if he wants to join the national team, it requires the highest ability. That standard may not be available in Saudi Arabia because getting into the national team is difficult due to the talent in that country. So he may regret it later if he really wants to play for his country. Otherwise very practical.
@StuTheDon176 күн бұрын
Yeah, you're right. Premier League players are on peanuts. I can't believe most of them only get £400 a week. He is absolutely making the correct decision to earn millions in Saudi Arabia because England definitely doesn't pay millions to their players. He was never going to earn enough playing in Europe, so good job he's gone to the almighty Saudi League.

As a Villa fan, I am gutted he isn't staying, such a brilliant young player who has put smiles on all our faces, but I get it. People aren't understanding his reasons. Duran comes from a life of struggle and extreme poverty with his family. By all accounts, he struggled with this decision but made it for his family as he is being paid an unbelievable amount of money. And let's also keep in mind that the life of a footballer could end with an injury. The above aside, Duran absolutely loves playing football, and you might be surprised to hear he is ambitious. He'll be an absolute star there and under the wing of CR7, too. Put a note in your calendar he will be back.

At the end of the day, after all is said and done, the players' responsibility lies with himself, his family, and relatives. Period! I have seen players with many accolades scrounging for the next meal, and many have died in abject poverty. Opportunities like Duran's come once in a while. What if he has a career ending injury? Will these glory hunters be putting up a go-fund-me for Duran? Just like coaches will tell you - 'we'll take it a game at a time' - so also should players apply this concept when it comes to making life changing decisions. Duran not moving to a glory club to make pundits, and fans feel good is secondary to him making a very good living for the now and future.

Why are people so surprised that Duran followed the money? Not everyone wants to be the next Messi or Ronaldo he wanted the bag and went for it.

Did you know Duran in Colombia??? Exactly!!! keep it that way and let him make his money

Stephen A has always said one thing "you can never blame a brother for getting his bag" yes it's a loss for European football but at the end of the day, just like you and I are working to sustain our families, he is too. No can fault him for setting up his family for life

He is earning more than Saka right now

I'd go there absolutely. he's still young after his contract ends anyways. he can always go back to the prem.

no one cares what frank has to say about this, saudi arabia is treating football like public entertainment, not a business, and its reflected in how much the pay their players, jhon came from a third world country getting at minimum 300k a week he just set his family up for generations that "love of football" is propaganda that tells a player that they should just accept the wage given to them, all the best for duran!

Dude is 20, spend 5 years in Saudi and make bank and come back to the prem or wherever he wants to go when he hits 25, he'll still have alot more career left at that age

i mean kudos to him.. He's getting that bread but his learning and development will take a big hit. Wouldn't hit his potential playing and training over there. I mean no disrepect.

These pundits were never offered this kind of money when they were playing. What’s with this romanticisation, the guy is setting up his family for life.

Europe don't want to accept this but am going to say it. If Saudi pro league offers a better product for players and fans the rest of the world just want to watch the best talents and players want to play where they make the most money. If that is in Saudi then that league will be the best in the world

What better product ? Stadiums are empty, Al nassr small stadium (where Ronaldo plays) is half empty. Even Arabs don't care.

Do they think Europe is better, because of the love of the game. No they have the most money and it attracts the best players and potential talent. Money attracts talent.

As a Liverpool fan, I’m glad that we don’t have to play against him. Much more dangerous than Watkins. And then they are going to bring Rashford in?! Here comes the villa slide down the league.

Thing is that he is young. He'll have all that money at 30 with the rest of his life ahead. The comfort is great but what then? He'll have to pivot in his life. Most people think enjoy life, travel, party. But that actually leads to depression unless you have something that you passionate about.

Duran Duran I know he saw the money and it's a lot for a 20 year old but that nothing compared to future earnings all through europe with different clubs combine with countless opportunities. The short game will hurt his future almost to the point he starting the process all over again as a professional.

The amount of people agreeing with this move blows my mind. How greedy can you get?
