As long as Simon takes Jim as his Sancho Panza I've no complaints. They could set up a betting company together.

All these players and managers need to do to avoid ridicule is to just openly admit "It's a financial decision" when you hear players like Ronaldo and managers like Gerrard and others say things like "I'm here because its a fantastic league, great potential and this is the best place for me" this is the lie they tell themselves, nothing wrong with admitting it's a financial decision.

Jim White bringing up Ronaldo is laughable, is he thriving? Pack it in 😂

Couldn't agree more with Simon here.

Honestly that has to be one of the worst career decisions ever made. It's like driving a Ferrari in F1 then moving down to a road car for a bit more cash.

AVFC furious at the timing of the bid for Watkins, happy enough to sell a player now though.

Simon has a point.... about youngsters earning ridiculous money. £60K a week at 21.... far too much.... regular 21yr olds can't even dream about making that a year!!

i think it was the lure of playing infront of 10k fans that closed the deal for Duran

It depends what he wants. Not everyone is ambitious and wants to put the effort in required to reach the very top. He may be the sort of guy that wants to do the minimum but get the maximum amount for that. Fair play to him go get that money

I guess Duran was at Villa and for free and for the love of the game.

As a Villa fan I’m gutted. I kinda prefer him over Watkins, but as football is a squad game that’s not the point.. he should have stayed with us

People understand this move, "makes sense", but it's "blood money" when it comes to Newcastle. Just goes to show why you're really complaining about the latter.

Simon Jordan who'd sell his mother's bones for a tenner is grilling a kid for getting a bag.... shame on him

Other clubs wanted him villa wouldn't sell they wanted 65 million plus. Apart from top clubs most can't afford that kind of money.

Better to move as a younger player, or an older player. At least in terms of career. I think it's ok for Duran. Do a couple of years there, earn a fortune, then if you want a good club career, come back to Europe and you're still only 23.

Get the bag Dhuran and try and negotiate as long of a contract as you can

And Arsenal coming in with a 60 million pound offer for Watkins is a joke...

It’s just sad more than anything, kids clearly a top prospect and is the type of player that should be playing on the biggest stages. Now like majority of the players that have gone to Saudi, he’ll disappear and we’ll barely hear about him again

It is sad that a great talent would rather not be playing in a top league for a club also doing very well in the top continental competition. But it's a short career with potential for a very big pay day to forever help him, his family and his great great grandchildren
