This guy is the country EVH. He's so great and seems like such a good dude
@daw1626 жыл бұрын
I think that's kind of a slight to Johnny. EVH was more of a showman and less of a guitarist, even in his era - compared to guys like Johnny.
@kcave236 жыл бұрын
No need to read that much into it. It was a complement. EVH was a showman and the best guitarist on the planet at the time. No idea how you could interpret that into a slight.... Good day

David W What I really like about Eddie is his rhythm. His flow is very organic and hard to imitate. Never mind the 114532 notes a minute. No one plays his riffs quite like him.

I bumped into him years ago at Rudy’s music on 48th st and had no idea who he was. My jaw was on the floor listening to him casually riff. The manager kept saying he was from outer space. Johnny just smiled.

🇫🇷 Hi Cowboys, hello from France. Johnny Hiland is one of my 3 favorite guitar pickers of all time. The amazing Jimmy Bryant, monster picker Johnny Hiland and the the young French prodigy Tina S. That is the standard we guitarists are suppose to aim for 🇫🇷

My wife and boys had cataracts as babies, so they all have Nystagmus (my wife's being the worst, my boys being barely noticeable). I never realized that was Johnny's issue. One way or the other, class act and one of the best guitar players to walk the earth.

Awesome video! Met Johnny while NAMM was going on in Nashville back in like 05 or 06 or something, can’t remember off hand. Watched his show at a bar and he tore the roof off the place! Then went back and hung out at his apartment and shot the shit for awhile. Awesome, super wholesome guy and one hell of a guitar player!

What a great player Johnny is. He doesn't need any pedals. He even shuts off the Milkman when he was demonstrating his chicken picking. I tried the Milkman and didn't really dig it. I wanted to love it but the repeats of the delay wasn't loud enough to my ears, it's almost as if you have a feedback knob turned too low. I really like the Unicorn Pedal from JHS. I need to try the Andy Timmons and the Angry Charlie. I've heard great things about those pedals. Great video of Johnny! He's amazing.
@harryemmott85976 жыл бұрын
The thing with the Milkman is that it's meant to be subtle and stacked with other boosts/ ODs. It's an 'always on' like the klon or xotic EP boost.

A lot of new rock shredders coined a term "Swybrid picking" which is a combination of hybrid and sweep picking to make faster licks. In my mind, country players have been doing that for ages!

He's someone who I would like to see play an 8 string guitar. Some bass notes as he picks the chords and melody. He has the genius to be traditional with extended range instead of being djent, metal or some instrumental tapping. Just a wild idea. The pedals sound great too.
@a.k.nabuco6 жыл бұрын
Does anyone know if the song he starts at 2:48 is an actual chet tune, or just his interpretation of the style? I've heard Johnny do a few permutations on that tune in various videos. I'd really love to learn the whole thing!

I love my Milkman pedal. Johnny's great, but he has so many videos where he's been heavy on praise for a piece of gear. It's tough to tell what he's really excited about vs. what he's paid to be excited about and won't ever use again.
@netenemy7 жыл бұрын
HA! So true.
@daveowczarek7 жыл бұрын
I hear you, Jason, I have noticed this as well. Even if he doesn't use these pedals frequently, they sound great and enhance his playing styles, so I can't find any other reason to doubt his endorsement. It feels like he gets very happy when he's got his equipment dialed in, and if it makes him happy, it'll probably make me happy. And to flip that around, I have a hard time believe that he'd shill for a product he didn't think was worth it.
@GreenDistantStar6 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Johnny H is a fabulous dude, we all know that. But if he used all the stuff he heartily recommends, he'd be covered in guitars and have a pedal-board so big he couldn't move around the stage.

He's a great endorser even if the product doesn't end up on his board. Billy Mays eat your heart out.
