So uncompressed that it actually throws you off a bit when you first play on them and it "feels" very strange. Once you're used to it though you absolutely love it. The worst word in the world comes from photography, and that word is "bokeh". I hate it with my soul. The other worst word in the world is "scrumptious". It makes me think of biting into a nice, warm, cream-filled teratoma.

The Dumbloid is fine, along Dumkudo, Zendrive, Dude and many others, but these are mainly overpriced Tubescreamers. The Van Weelden Royal Overdrive, Ethos, and the Kingsley Page DS are much boutiqueishly dumblesquerer imo.

I swear 'transparent' is worse. Basically most of the transparent drives aren't even that transparent. And I'm troubled by the idea of people giving anything to get a transparent drive. Why aren't clean boosts called The transparent pedals? Since they basically just push the signal, if that's the goal.

Everything Will Be Alright In The End is the most underrated/underappreciated record in their discography. Such a great album.

A friend of mine who has/had a wine column and website, published a book called "The Oenophile's Lexicon", in which he explained and clarified the meaning of all the terms that wine afficionados use to describe the taste and behavior of wine. Maybe we need something like that for guitar tone. For instance, what does "woody" mean?

Hey I Just stumbled across your channel and I'm completely blown away! I'd love of you could do an Episode on Electro-Harmonix and their pedals especially the overdrives and ts and klon clones and crayon! Thanks in advance I love what you're doing!

Am I the only one who thinks Josh sounds like that hippie high school teacher beavis and butthead had?
I think the smooth highs is from the audiophile community. It describes the Frequency response curve of the high end. Usually jagged curve or smooth curve. Pay attention to recorded cymbals. Jagged = can't even tell it is a cymbal. Smooth high end = cymbals easily identifiable and sound great.

It is not uncommon for a "tasting language" to evolve around matters of taste. Take wine, beer and food: they have a language for describing the sensations experienced while tasting samples of each genre. They use terms like "earthy overtones", "buttery", "complex" .. see: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wine_tasting_descriptors. Describing the sensations experienced while playing a pedal is no different except the palette being influenced is aural in this case. I can dig it, but many find it objectionable. Coz they're idiots. It's just language, I suggest : get past it. Learn something new. Or make up your own terms. The thing is: language is for communicating ideas. How do YOU communicate your sensations of your favourite pedal?

"complex harmonics" never heard but i have the Camoflange it has a Harmonics-knob to choose between odd and even harmonics, i prefer the odd harmonics usually.

I wish you could get normal harmonics sometimes. Odd are cool but you get tired of them at times, even.

Ok, some another buzzwords, tremolo and vibrato. Cos you have a tremolo pedal that shifts volume and a vibrato pedal that shifts pitch. But then you also have a tremolo bar on a guitar that shifts pitch.... But shouldn't that be called a vibrato bar/arm?
