Stephen Colbert is 60, Jennifer Hudson is 42. To be her father, Stephen would’ve been 18 years old when she was born. I think Jennifer looks at him as an older mentor and the way he gushes over her, it’s obvious that he admires her. So.... lets do the math. USA producers are saying "Man NBC is killing it in the ratings with Kelly Clarkson, how can we compete. Well who is probably the second best successful american idol star ??? Jennifer Hudson". USA gave her a show to simply compete with kelly clarksons ratings. It has nothing to do with who won first. Simply put Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson are the most successful contestants in the show which is why they both have shows. But it started with the success of kelly clarksons show.
