The US is less than 300 years old, so the NY subway is probably around 100 years old. The US spends over $700 billion a year on its military....

I always heard that NY subway is bad then I finally visit the city, it turns out to be just fine. True, it can't compare with these new subway stations build within 20 years, but overall, they are still running after 100 years. only UK 150 years old subway systems are older than NY's.

Building "Infrastructure" only happens in big cities like NYC, LA or SF.. In the middle or southern part of the States, you usually get different type of answer about this. Infrastructure issues are part of domestic problems for States. Key solution for this issue would be to continuously improve on those infrastructures that States already have. The US had those infrastructure about 100 years ago, which was the most advanced development at that time. What happened after they built those? There was no further improvement after.

infrastructure can benefit most of people but also will have bad effect on somebody else .American may think it is not domestic for this.
Whether it's this or that, it's going to be a big piece of pie for contractors. Going to be a lot of delays and mystery under estimates before it is delivered.
It is good to see Jerry to become a Reporter to report some critical news in US. So we can understand how the American people actually think and give comment about their country.

This problem is not whether US government should spend 2T dollars for infrastructure, the problem is US government should focus on so many domestic problems. The Government system (federal and state) is corrupted and need to be fixed first. The cost of building 1 kilometer subway is $6b, twice more than any cities in Western Europe, 5 or 6 times more than any cities in china. Why?

American labor is very expensive, but it cannot accept China's efficient and cheap labor. This is a contradiction. Maybe American working people should make more contributions to this era? Of course, they also have the freedom not to do so, and the wheel of history cannot take care of everyone.
A previous suprior boss of mine from NYC spoke about water overflows the missing high steps at the subway entrance. People, especially the senior citizens, are found in trouble at homes on the first floor, electric shortcut smoke fire in high skycrapers in poor mantainance...
