Sifu, another wonderful video. I have taught 4 times a week for years and my regular Sifu is in Ohio and visits yearly. It is so nice to relax and watch someone go into the details.

I use in fencing (European) mostly a foil and epee in the Italian style, I put the finger over the ricasso, and I do the same with the Chinese weapon. I'm conscious that there is no protection for the finger, I don't spar with the Chinese sword only with the European style, so I believe that the more control that i get when I do the form is justified. The sciavola (saber) also gives protection, and sometimes I use a martingale, a loop of leather (for the finger, and a very heavy saber for practice) to help control the weapon. Cheers

Very interesting and a clear explanation. Thank you. I'm new at learning the Tai Chi straight sword, I have tried both the finger on the hilt grip and all fingers on the handle only. I was told that one grip is favoured for Wushu competition, presumably for scoring points, or better control of the angles as you have demonstrated. I am really enjoying learning the Tai Chi sword, although it is just a lightweight, telescopic blade practice sword.

When you can buy a sword, I would recommend a semi-flexible stainless steel "Scholars Sword". They are lighter than a Warrior Sword and I have found I must move with a lot more control or the blade will keep flexing ! Very difficult but elegant. You will find some moves are easier/ more natural with a "little weight"/ solid Sword. Hold off buying a fancy Sword until you are more confident ( safe ) and get the correct length of blade (wrist to bottom of the ear 👂). Ask your Shifu to show Jian 49 or "老剑 Lǎo jiàn" - "Old Sword". Two fantastic forms☯️🙏

@@zatrusofnietzche2281 wow, thank you for a very thoughtful reply. My wife bought me such a sword for Christmas and the difference is amazing. I haven't been able to practise much with it due to illness, but I'll be getting some lessons from my Sifu in the New Year. He suggests learning methods, such as two person drills, before starting to learn any sword form. I did a workshop event with him and I found it very interesting. It's definitely inspired me to take the sword more seriously. I would like to improve the Yang 32 sword form, as I've already been practising this for about 2 years. My Sifu teaches various sword forms, so I'll leave it up to him to teach me what he thinks best, but first I will need to get a feel for this new sword, which my Sifu had recommended to me. I'll ask him if he knows the particular sword forms that you mentioned. Thank you for your advice, it's much appreciated.

@@markdonovan1540 my Shifu asked me "what form would I like to practice?", I said that is like asking a child what cake 🍰 do they want 😂. We do staff,hand fan, Doa,Jian and empty hand forms.. Listen to your Shifu ☯️🙏. With time your strength will increase "trust me" I was a wheelchair user for 25yrs, not used it for over a year now ! ☯️🙏 我爱太极拳 Wǒ ài tàijí quán I love Tàijíquán. I'm even learning Chinese and the Dizi 😁. "Amitofuo ☯️🙏" (traditional greeting) good luck with lessons

Ciao Dante, perché alcune scuole di Taichi usano la spada di legno ? Grazie
@DanteBasili4 жыл бұрын
Risposta banale: una spada vera o simil-vera può essere problematica da trasportare ed usare in parchi o altri luoghi. Risposta interessante: quando si conoscono i "principi" ci si può bene esercitare anche con un pezzo di legno :)
