You know, even though she didn't land it, it was less scary than a lot of the other Amanars that I have seen. She got the twists all the way around, she just didn't flip enough and landed right on her butt. I would rather watch somebody do that than get the flip all the way around and be twisting right into the ground.

If her shoulder wasn't injured, she definitely would have been able to complete that vault.

Her score was actually much better than I expected it to be.

A fall only cost 8 tenths then is part of it. Unfortunately, from what I heard the issue was a shoulder injury that made the block harder for her.

She's tiny. Doesn't have enough inertia to get a good block.

I still don't know why she bothered to do this vault, if she couldn't do it she should of played safe and done the double twist, it worked for Yang Yilin.

The Chinese delegation had a lot of money in the gymnastics program in 2008 and in keeping up with trends, they manufactured two gymnasts in vain of Nastia and Shawn. You'll notice their start values are similar on similar apparatus (Nastia and Yang on FX and UB) and Shawn and Jiang on vault. They probably though she couldn't compete against shawn without this vault.

Craig Tilley well, for Yang Yilin, it was the other way around. doing a double upgraded her from the 1.5 she did the year before. for Jiang Yuyuan, the double was a huge downgrade.

Jiang did not have the giant bars scores of Yang so to fight for a medal, she needed everything she had

@@andreid.8568 it’s happened since the beginning of gymnastics. Nadia Comaneci was modeled after Olga Korbut. And so and so forth. It’s not uncommon for a country to have their gymnasts train the same skills / style the worlds top gymnast are already competing. Massive corporations do it. Gymnastics coaches do it as well.
