This was my first time watching this, and I hope Im not the only one that can see it, but in the first few minutes, we can clearly see Jensen is tired. He loves his fans, he does, but he needs rest. He's trying to be as nice and pleasant as possible and that might come on a little strong to some people but it's understandable. Thing is, he's uncomfortable as fuck. We know Jensens shy. Being in a crowd this big is never something he gets used to, he's fucking terrified he might fuck up and he's scared of all the eyes. You can see it in the tense set of his shoulders, his movements his voice. It's like he's suffering through despite that he does enjoy them, but this wasn't under regular circumstances

I ship Destiel but i really don't see how he is being 'rude' it not being cannon isn't the worse thing to happen.....whats worse is it being pressed on them to the point of barely even having screen time together and or the show stopping.

Literally I hate rude fans. These guys have been nothing but kind and giving and welcoming of us and our crazy. THEY DO NOT HAVE TO BE. They are not required to come to conventions but they do. If you're rude, you will loose them and contact with them and maybe the show. Be respectful and be nice. They are humans too.

so i know you commented this 6 years ago but i just have to agree with you here. i hate how everyone expects so much out of actors and famous people and such. like where tf do you think they came from? they were kids just as we were and they struggle just as we do. i hate it when people expect them to always be at their best and to always be good/kind all the time. they think they run on 100% energy every day. when in fact that's not the case. they f**k up just as we do and they make mistakes and they have bad days. it's unfair to expect them to be at their best all the time and i hate it when they point out one little tiny mistake and ruin their day/careers/friendships out of it. sorry for the long reply i just have a lot of feelings

please don't get mad at me todokanaio1, I just want to be honest about something- even though I ship Destiel, I completely respect Jensen's feelings against it. He has every right to feel that way, and I respect him very much as an actor and human being. I understand/accept the other viewpoint now, just as long as people are respectful of the other side :)

Agreed. I have written a Destiel fan fiction but I stayed true to Dean and Cas. But people do take it to far.

Fan fiction is great and fan art but we have to have respect for canon also. It's only a TV show and the actors are grown men with family's and a LIFE outside of the TV show. Jensen's answer to the Cas/Dean relationship was very mature, and I don't see the problem with it? He is entiltled to his opinion, and I think he expressed it well.

I ship destiel but It's something I never want to see happen on screen, purely because I know how uncomfortable Jensen and possibly Misha would be. I think we tend to forget that this is just a show and real people are playing these characters. The show has never been one about romance, I mean there have been story lines involving love and romance but it's never stuck and I hope it never does but that's what is so beautiful about the show, it doesn't focus around romance. I think we should be allowed to ship who we want to ship and feel what we want to feel but pushing it on Jensen, Misha, writers etc needs to stop. It's not going to happen. Let's just keep it on tumblr yeah? That's my opinion anyway...

Yeah, like, I was a massive fan of the Vampire Diaries, but what frustrated me so much was the endless angst - it's always love triangles and couples fighting and I just got tired of it. SPN is great because you simply have two brothers supporting each other. None of that angst & arguing. (I have a theory that all the arguing in VD filtered through to their real lives, causing all the arguing between cast members in the later seasons, whereas with SPN, the brothers are always supportive of each other, and I think that has filtered through to their real-life relationship too.)

I believe the wrighters are able to show dean and cas's bond without a kiss or anything like that. They play the characters so well ans the writing is so good that the senses and energy in them says enough

I just love the way he answers questions, he's always respectful. I personally love destiel, and I know some actors who were maybe uncomfortable by it wouldn't be so good to the fans who do ship them. So I respect his answer very much and the way he goes about speaking to his fans.

+LillianR 'harassed' is not the word I would use, it barely gets mentioned at panels, especially not with him. he just seems to get a bit defensive about it. which is fine, if he feels uncomfortable with it then that's his business, but I get a bit sick of people acting like it gets shoved down his throat at every turn. it really doesn't. misha gets asked about it far more and he's chill about it.

I really don't think that dstiel being aired as canon is going to be something that Jensen or Misha would be comfortable with- even in the slightest. I mean- neither would I. Dean's relationship with Cas is more best friends who understand each and every thing about each other than anything else. And it's a very beautiful friendship.

I have long thought that Jensen would make an excellent Sky Masterson in "Guys and Dolls." I'd love to see him do "Luck Be a Lady." Thank you so much, todokanai01. The chances that I'll ever get to go to a con, let alone a JiB, are very, very slim. I love that you are able to record the entire panel, and that you get such a great picture and audio. I can count on you to capture arguably the best con of the whole convention circuit.

I wish I could give a thumbs up to Jensen :) He's kinda actually lucky he doesn't have a Twitter lol. I've just seen Dean and Cas bein best friends (and enemies). But I do think Destiel is kinda cute, not that If I ever meet Jensen I would bring it up, but yeah it's would be a cool story for the characters, not the real people lol. But what I'd really hate if it affected their work...that would suck.

Destiel is problematic, not cute. Jimmy Novak was a religious married man.. Castiel used him and destroyed the Novak family. I'm sure Jimmy Novak would disagree with you that it's cute. Castiel using Jimmy's body for sex is not cool and that is what destiel is. Ship it, your right but don't delude people and yourself.

You know something shipping or a certain group of people has gotten out of control whenever the actors, and writers shy away from it. Dean and Cas hardly even has scenes together anymore. That should tell them something.

well, maybe not in that time, but now we know there was a "secret", and he and Misha "played it". DeanCas love story was one of the main story lines of season 15 :) I've always tried to ignore this panel and not gonna watch the ending part with the sorting hat. but I love the way his mood changes for the better when Misha enters^_^

It was far from the main storyline...most regular fans weren't even aware of it until the reaction from some fans on ep18. Dean was always straight and Cas is a celestial being...and love doesn't have to be sexual.

hmm. interesting that he chose to address destiel himself, he usually avoids discussing it. I'm really glad he's a tad more comfortable with the whole thing nowadays :) I'm new (ish) to the fandom and I see a lot of people online talking about how destiel shippers hassle the showrunners and actors about it and are really rude etc. honestly, I've watched like over a hundred panels and interviews from 2005 to 2015 and I have very rarely seen the actors get asked about ships, especially jensen. if they're being hassled then it must be via mail or something. tbh the rudest and most aggressive behaviour I've seen online has consistently been from anti-shippers. but that's not the point. I do ship destiel and I do believe that the writers have consistently written the relationship and storyline in a low key romantic way (sometimes not even low key). however, I believe jensen when he says that he and misha don't play it that way. they have incredible chemistry which tbh doesn't need any input from them to support destiel. I also mostly believe that there really is no secret affair between dean and cas (although seriously, something must have happened in purgatory, but I guess we'll never know). I think that even if what jensen said was obviously not fun for me to hear as a destiel shipper... it's his opinion and it's very valid, and I respect him for making a clear statement on the matter rather than pussyfooting around and furthering the queerbaiting. good on him! it's interesting that he said that series 9 was really low on dean and cas and he implied (possibly unfairly but I'll leave that alone) that the destiel fandom was to blame for that. personally, I place season 9 directly behind series 8 as having some of the most unbelievably gay shit ever. there was literally a whole episode about dean fretting over cas and going to visit him at work, in which carver specifically wrote the dynamic between them as that of a romantic relationship?? the same episode with the weird undressing in the car moment and the mysterious time lapse?? like.... series 9 had some stuff that felt directly out of fanfiction tbh. obviously I'm biased towards destiel, but it's odd that jensen felt like season 9 'cooled off' their relationship. anything but, for me. I like the way he described dean's descent towards taking the mark, because it sounded to me very much like cas's journey towards saying yes to lucifer (still so sad for him). cas and dean have endless character and plot parallels. I love what jensen said about 'kindred spirits'; I think that whether you ship them or see them as brotherly friends or whatever, that rings true. lastly, I was kinda annoyed that jensen's answer literally only addressed why cas would care about and value dean. like, at no point did he offer anything on what dean likes about cas, why dean cares about cas, what dean sees as good in cas. in the context of cas's current storyline and his low self-worth this is especially shit :/ like, even the actor playing dean doesn't appreciate castiel. but I've gotten the impression before that jensen doesn't really agree with the writers sometimes when they have dean caring heaps about cas. he does seem (and I could be wrong) to be in the 'dean only cares about sam' camp. maybe his obvious dislike of destiel has driven him there. that's sad, but tbh it's his problem. nearly every destiel shipper I've met has been ultra respectful of the actors and I've spent a lot of time lately looking through comments sections on articles and youtube. anyway I just wrote an essay so I'll chillax now.

I think its a mutual love that dean doesn’t know how to express, I believe that the love Dean has for Cas isnt romantic in the sense but more of a deeply care way kind of way. Dean tore himself up over not saying i love you back to Cas.

Not a fan of this guy generally but I gotta love his sneering at HP. Can't help it. I'm an SF reader of over 35 years, tried to read HP, thought it not only sucked to high heaven in writing style, but didn't have one original thing in it. Everything in it is taken from something that another YA author did much better decades prior. Nothing wrong with building on something borrowed, but stealing and simplifying? Embarrassing.
