JiffyDos and Epyx Fastload cart are they worth it in 2020?

I use a cartridge called Back Bit. Now I have my others for sale... including my drives. It is fast and much easier to load programs and games. Can even boot from it with my diagnostic cartridge programs

Hi, thanks for this. In your conclusion do you say the Action Replay's emulation is NOT supported by the pi1541? If so, what's the next best fast loader emulation for pi1541 users?

No, the pi1541 full emulates the 1541 in "disk mode" so you can use the AR cart with it just fine.

In fairness, nostalgia is valid purpose to continue using the FL. It was the #1 selling fast load solution and undoubtedly a part of many user's memories.

sure if you want an Epyx FL because you want an Epyx FL then nothing else enters the equation. But if you are looking for the ultimate upgrade or best partner for sd2iec other things enter the equation. It was the no1 selling when it launched but by now I would expect the AR has beaten it hansomely

I use Jiffydos mounted in C64 and SD2IEC. In my opinion it is a perfect solution for 2020 and 2021:)

I'm not sure where the figures came from for CBM Burst mode, but I don't believe AT ALL that it needs a skew of 6. It reads tracks just as fast as Vorpal, which would put it in the 13k/second category. It takes 16 clock cycles @ 1 or 2mhz to transfer an entire byte of data.

on anything other than a C64 it is the "only option" well there are some fast loader carts for a 1541 on a 128 but edge case.
