remember what makes a pro not just being able to cast a lure and catch a fish but being able to tell someone how you did and have repeating success with your own words that you share

You will always be my biggest hero, but i would really be happy to see some videos that show close up slow motion Spool Control, or "Thumb Work" for different types of casting. I am sure it is not the same for Skipping as it is for casting overhand for instance? Would also like to know more about the type of clothing you wear during the winter months to stay warm and dry...

@Bowshooter321 You need that heavier line to pull the fish through the heavier cover. I flip jigs and other plastics on 60 pound braided line because so much of the cover I fish is so thick other lines just can't take it. That, and losing another 9+ pound fish because of a broken line is just not acceptable to me lol. Last time that happened I broke my rod out of frustration.

Look at him go with that Jig, amazing. Btw, what jig(s) is he using? I'm not a professional Jig fisherman, but is intending to be and working on it. I could use a couple of advice and tips, would appreciate it, youtube vids would be most appreciated. Besides throwing it out and reeling it back in, I really have no clue to how to 'jerk' the jig and so fourth. Control.

"Bleeding bait" Jig made by Strike King Lures the size is unknown.
@triggernm12 жыл бұрын
Those are just recommended weights. It really doesn't put too much constraint on what you can use. I sometimes use a small inline spinner with my worm rod. It just takes a different technique to cast a light lure on a heavier setup. Besides, its only 1/8 oz less than the recommended weight anyways. Honestly, I never pay much attention to the recommended lure weight. Length, Action, and Power are much more important IMO.

How many still use pork trailers? I’m glad I stocked up before they stopped making them a few years ago. I still catch more bass with pork than plastic.

@disco2dirt BPS Ribbontail soft plastic worms, Texas rigged with BPS wide superlock XPS worm hooks and BPS Tungsten worm weights. Pitch that worm into open pockets in the weeds, jig, jig, jig and hold on. Also, spinnerbaits are deadly around grass beds. I suggest Strike King KVD 2X Willow 1/2oz in a natural colour patterns.

What rod is being used here? Or in other words, what 'type' of reeling rod is this? Seems to be fun to fish jigs with.

even if he is fishing a stocked reservoir it doesn't mean the fish would be biting anymore than they would on a normal lake/reservoir. That jig has to work or else the fish would scare away from it.

Can't catch with a jig, I have been using them for 2 seasons with only one unsucessful bite, this week I used them bank fishing in 3 sessions for a combined total of 27 hrs worth of effort and not a single bite, my cousin was fishing the same spot as me with plastic worms and getting at least 4 bass per session.........I am not giving up because for some reason I just love jigs, even though they don't produce I am convinced it is worth the effort to figure them out. Can you make some suggestions that may help me figure out my problem? I used them with and without craw trailer. I both hop and drag them. I target both weeds and rocks. And I do well in these places with worms. So what can it be? I am getting frustrated, my cousin is hounding me to give up the jigs says they must not work in michigan, either that or the videos are just made to sell jigs and they are somehow rigged.
@aidanpainter57828 жыл бұрын
I would say keep The trailer on and hop it. Ross it near vegetation let it sink the do a twitch twitch pause texhnique

Aidan gave some sound advice. I fish in Michigan and have good luck with them in certain areas. They are far from my "go to" lure, but I will use them in certain terrain conditions.
@todd51987 жыл бұрын
I have now found some good spots for them, I do best with light jigs and swim jigs, but so far have not done good with them in the thick plant life which is 1/2 of the common targets for them, I plan to figure that out this summer
@NorthernMike7 жыл бұрын
SE Michigan sure had it's share of aquatic vegetation last season, I had to find new ways to find fish last year (other than in rivers), but I had some great luck. If you're still in the Detroit area you should check out my channel- a lot of footage from the area.

spinnerbaits, yum watermelon seed worms, chaterbait, buzzbait, rebel pop-r, LOTS OF FROG R'S if theres water lillys or smug on top of the water, 1 crank bait (i would look at rapala medium diving baits). and with that i think you should be ok. :)

My only comment is I like kvd and wish he didn't torque the lip on those bass quite so much. It can damage their jaw ro hold the horizontal by the jaw. U won't know it either as studies show it takes a couple of weeks and they die because they can't eat.
