Medium heavy is *absolutely* where it’s at for frogs. I don’t know where this trend of going ultra-heavy for frogs came from. Sure, you can horse em out of heavy cover with a pool cue but it comes at the cost of accuracy and enjoyable casting. It is soooo much easier to put a frog exactly where you want it with a medium heavy. I do mostly short range frogging so I actually use a medium heavy st croix 68 legend x. Has just enough back bone to get ‘em in while retaining easy accuracy with the soft tip. It’s a little overkill to use such an expensive, goofy rod for frogs but it has exactly what I want…it’s lightweight, short, powerful and accurate. Perfect for close quarters frogging…pair it with a curado 70 or an aldebaran and 🤌
