This year was an excellent year for fluke for me. I took 2 trips on one of the party boats off Captree, and i killed it. Both times i was high hook on the boat, with last trip having caught 6 keepers!! 25 inches was the biggest. Rest of the people were using conventional fluke rigs, and I was doing rapid technique just like in this video! Thank you for the wisdom you share with us, going out again this week, this time blackfishing. Already got my jigs and a set up. one of your videos with the underwater footage of a blackfish was the one that clicked and make a lot of sense now. Even if i end up using sinker rig, that video still helped me a lot to understand when to set the hook! Thank you again!

Awesome day. Started using your teknique two years ago and although I've caught fish I was never sure if I was doing it properly. After watching this video and seeing it being done from a different camera angle, other than your POV, it is more clear how it should be done. Jerome did a great job. Thanks for making this Tutorial video John. Now I most likely will have to wait till next year to give it a go. lol. Saving this video so I can find it again easily next year.

Back in the late 90s to 2010 or so the fluking was great along the RI beaches. There were probably fluke all the way into the surf line. The major exodus that ensued the next ten years in which the fluke were really only plentiful on the hard bottom ( old school codfish rocks). But this beach fishing as good as this I have experienced many times without gulp just simple squid and spearing and at times the ribbons for belly baits. Should be able to do this all the time.

I fish that area also, the state channel leading to the inlet and the inlet have incredibly fast and strong currents and goes from shallow to deep in many areas, u may need to just go heavier on your buck tail weights, I’d say more like 8-12oz rather than the 3-6oz that he ussually uses in the ocean, in the back bay you should b able to use about an ounce and a half tops, I know I’m not skinner but hope this helps, tight lines
@johnsamothrakis46212 жыл бұрын
@@usobninja14 thanks for responding, yes very helpful , but man using a 8- 12 ounce Bucktail is difficult, ( I have gone to 6 - 8 ounce ) and pricy when you get snagged 😂, thanks again , but when I need to do that , I just put on a sinker and use 1 hook with gulp , thanks again, very nice of you to respond 👍
