Resident Evil 3 Nemesis - Hard Mode [Longplay]

Screw you Nemesis. You scared the crap out of me when I was little!
This is a lot tougher than Resident Evil 2 in my opinion, dodging Nemesis in fights took me a bit to get used to. Running away just gets Jill smacked in the ass xD I really like the things they added to the game after RE 2; Faster zombies, dodging, gun powder, quick-turn, freeze grenade rounds and the very fun Eagle Handgun. Jill feels A LOT faster at running than Leon and Claire as well.
Could easily do a speed run of this now in under 2 hours with 1 or 2 saves, but fighting Nemesis is more fun than fleeing. That means finding enough ammo and herbs to be able to take on the encounters. That's why this is a longplay.

I always remember never being able to get past Nemesis inside the police station in the demo back when I was little, I was always petrified when it came time to try and get past him; it's the sound of the window somewhere in the station shattering that always got me. The same thing used to happen when returning to the Clock Tower as Carlos with the vaccine and you can clearly tell Nemesis is tracking Jill (and now Carlos) down, it was always impossible for me to move past a certain point in the tower foyer because I KNEW he was coming. This game is a testament to good horror atmosphere, in my opinion.

There hasn't been a horror game until today that has a more terrifying soundtrack than this game. RE3 is my childhood in one game. When I was 11, I was stuck at the near end because I couldn't solve a valve puzzle. But when I hit 13, I was eventually smart enough to figure out the solution (had no Internet back then) and was finally able to finish the game. It was the first of dozens of playthroughs to come. In the nights I dreamed about Jill, still my favorite girl in a video game. Thanks Capcom for this masterpiece. It needs a remake on PS4!

The remake was such a missed opportunity. The atmosphere of being stalked through the streets of Raccoon City by an entity that couldn’t be stopped and could show up anywhere made for great gameplay. The remake making nearly all of his encounters scripted boss battles was horrible. Both games are short, but at least the original had the re-playability thanks to the different choices you could make during the game

Yeah that’s what I thought too until I realised it was outsourced to a lacklustre studio, the visuals were downgraded, damage physics too, campaign was very short, areas were tiny, Nemesis’ unnecessary redesign was a huge step down, and he wasn’t even a stalker enemy anymore, branching story paths were removed. Ammo crafting was lazily added, and very basic. Even something as basic as using the inventory was less intuitive than in RE2R. It’s like they removed and downgraded absolutely everything that made the original so memorable, enjoyable and replayable. I don’t blame the developers though. It’s the people in charge that cut corners, thinking they could make a quick buck after the success of RE2R. They used that success to manipulate people into thinking they’d get the same quality in that follow-up. I felt like such a sucker for buying RE3R. If they’d been allowed to take their time and invested the necessary resources into including all the omissions I mentioned, and the cut areas, then they would have created a true successor to the original RE3, the same way RE1’s remake is now the definitive version of that game. Notice how RE1 remake has been ported numerous times? RE4 too. I’ve bought it on 3 separate systems. There’s no way in hell I’d ever repurchase RE3 remake. It’s not that it’s a “bad” game. It’s just so blatantly sleazy and exploitative the way it was made alongside RE2 and then rushed out the door with some naff Fortnite crap bolted onto it Edit: Lastly, they turned Jill into an obnoxious, narcissistic “girl boss” stereotype in order to appeal to….I don’t even know who. Angry feminists perhaps? Women can’t stand other women who behave like that 😂

In Re1 and Re2 enemies cannot kill you beyond a stair. Re Code Veronica also is very limited in that. In Re3 you can get hit by a rocket in the middle of a stair. lol This was a big improvement at that time. Of all gameplays Re3 was the superior indeed.

Shiny graphics and on-the-rails “press and hold up” simulators don’t make for an entertaining experience in what is supposed to be an engaging, interactive experience. 50 people worked on this game so it was easier for them to collaborate and pull in the same direction to actualise a singular vision. You can kill him pretty easily with the Freeze Rounds, He only takes 11 Grenade Freeze round shots to put him down for good in that particular encounter before the next one comes.

In the PC version, only half of the freeze rounds work, especially if Nemmy is close t'you. In half of the cases, Nemmy gives out the "wounded" sound effect, but otherwise, doesn't slow down or stop.

Did you know that on some European copies of the game if the player uses Hard mode and never discards any items (store everything you collect in the game) you get an awesome special unlock and extra scenes. You can use ammo and time/kills doesn't matter, you just have to store everything that the game prompts you to discard as "useless now"

I never bothered with this fight tbh. Unless you're a seasoned RE3 player who has barely used any bullets up to that point, it's VERY difficult, even for an experienced RE fan like myself who managed to A rank RE2. No shame in skipping it.

⁠@@wallywibbly250but then you wouldn’t get that handgun. There are ways to exploit Nemesis. The easiest way is to run into Marvin’s office and stand by the bookcase. Nemesis will get hung up on it and you can just shoot him full of holes. If he gets untangled and manages to reach you, just run out of the office and run back in. Takes a few minutes at most. CarcinogenSDA does this.

For what it's worth, if you skip the first fight, you can still get the handgun. It just means you get it after the third encounter instead of the second.

Jill was doing covert investigations on Umbrella's operations so she had to stay under the radar. And yes, it was her apartment. This was also almost at the same time as RE2's events. While the duo in RE2 managed to get out earlier, Jill kinda had to deal with Nemesis constantly stalking her as she tries to escape the city.

⁠@@isaacfrilles938Sort of. Jill’s story up until she gets infected takes place BEFORE RE2. Claire and Leon arrive in Raccoon City while Jill is resting. By the time Jill is up and around, Leon and Claire are already gone. That’s why there’s no mention of a nuke during RE2. It’s a strange passage of time but that’s the official one. The Remake? Don’t know, or care. I actually read this in an Official PlayStation magazine article wayyyy back in 1999 upon the game’s release.

I played this game and ended it when i was only seven year old my old brother teatch me lot of thing about videos games since then i ended most horror games right now im playing again in resident evil 3 and i can tell you i didnt die a single time in the game shooting nemsis fast as i can is the best choice you havd be sure thst he can follow u under other place until you defeat him he wont let u get out of their so keep in mind best choice u have is to fight until the end
