Got to do that as a boy. I think the fish were bigger then. I had one on bigger than a door, shipsmate told me I was hung up on bottom trash and wanted to cut the line. I was slowly pulling it up so he waited and then I almost went overboard. After a bit I got it close, mate hung over the side with a .44 while the captain screamed shoot it shoot it and pop, line broke. Was told maybe would have been boat record. I did manage a 75 pounder and about 20 cod. Also got to see walrus, sea otters, puffins, and orca all that day. Lot of fun . Out of Anchorage.
