@ClaytonSchickOutdoors

T Schwis it’s illegal to intentionally snag fish... can you keep them if un-intention? Not sure. But as you will see in the video there is nothing that shows me actually putting it in the live-well. :)
@struckus
@struckus 4 жыл бұрын
here in Ontario you can't keep a fish that's not hooked by mouth..intentionally or unintentionally..has to be returned immediately..different rules for different places for sure but in Ontario they are quite clear..sucks with rapalas because the fish will strike and the one treble that sticks will be in the side of their head even though they tried to eat it..legally you have to return it..

You sir are a human ruler! You got me pumped for using jiggin raps! I haven’t tried them for walleye much when I did i caught a ton of cat fish lol. So the lure and techniques you are using right now can be used for Ice fishing as well since your vertical fishing? The only thing that would change would be your depth ? Or is boat fishing techniques use different lure and techniques. Thanks for another great video!

Hey good to see you again. I have used these types of hooks in winter but never tried them in summer. Was the bottom sandy? weeds?? Also looks like you really rip them aggressively . Would a more subtle approach also work?? Thanks for another great vid...
@ClaytonSchickOutdoors
@ClaytonSchickOutdoors 4 жыл бұрын
Sandy bottom, a more subtle approach will work, but it is good to rip them once and a while to create a reaction out of the fish plus sometimes draws fish in from a longer ways away.

so in my experience and opinion all those fish that are chin hooked or hooked on the way up either 1 hit it on the way down and you just never felt it or two were looking at it and then the lure drops on the bottom and they are right over it wondering where it went then when you snap it they get hooked. I have been jigging the detroit and surrounding rivers for 10 years and live 10 min away and jig almost 3 times a week in the spring summer and fall. Most new guys i take never feel a bite all day but catch fish. they always think they hit on the way up. Me on the other hand know how walleye bite. they always wait for the bait to slow down/fall down and then bite. happens all the time trolling. And 100% of the time hand lining. when you jig the rapalas/spoons forward I have never gotten hit but as soon as you slow the jig that's when the walleyes hit. this will also explain the reason why you foul hook walleye jigging vertically. the walleye sees the bait and then wanders over it as soon as you jig up they get hooked on belly or chin or wherever. Foul hooking while trolling doesn't happen because its not vertical also if you ever want to come to the detroit I can put you on fish in my boat, I ahve small boat or big boat, we have a insane walleye spring and fall run
@ClaytonSchickOutdoors
@ClaytonSchickOutdoors 4 жыл бұрын
Walleye's will pin baits to the bottom, when you snap jig you will have slack line on the fall.... Yes sometimes they could get snagged as well 100% but most of the time they are eating it right out of the sand... I know this because I watch it on the underwater camera all the time... Thanks for the comment!

How are you staying vertical over your bait/transducer without a trolling motor? Are the waves pushing you that much that you can counteract it with the big motor?
@ClaytonSchickOutdoors

I liked the video but don't get a puppy. It's like having a two year old for over a decade. Plus, picking up poop, barking and whining, shedding, have to walk the dog a few times everyday. Yes, dog owners, a 10 mins walk in the morning is not enough. Great video though. I discovered sharp shooting this year. FUN! Not at Rowan's but at Pasqua Lake

@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors I grew up with dogs. Retrievers and shepherds mostly. If I find my 5 acres somewhere and never want to or have to leave I'll get a pack of dogs but life is too busy for a working person to look after a dog well I feel. It's easy to forget the hard work when you see them playing and happy and stuff. Now I just keep food in the bird feeders. Wild birds make great pets. I enjoy their company and then their gone. Low maintenance lol
