Jigra disappointed me. After the hype I expected much better. I get that you are big fan of Alia’s but dude film felt like a posh version of Savi. Screenplay lacking depth. Film tried too hard to be profound but comes off as pretentious with forced emotional beats and shallow characters. The film feels like an empty shell which is visually polished but completely devoid of soul. It's a hollow, uninspired attempt at storytelling. Alia doesn't really create a big impact looks like a film made for her to win some award and Indie cred. Vedang, forgettable.

I just watched the movie, and it’s astonishing how cleverly it glosses over all the flaws, especially in the second half. The use of “samosa” in the thumbnail was a masterstroke, leading us to believe we’re about to dive into a paid review. How sneaky of him to think we wouldn’t catch on! Deepika Padukone has starred in all the multi star cast big blockbuster movies last year and this year. Will you ever find Karan recommending Kriti Sanon to all those directors that come to him as much as he pushes Alia? That's called partiality, deal with it. Alia is not a bad actor, but there are far more talented actors than her who don't get all the opportunities like she does due to her mentor's power and influence. And no, she doesn't excel in everything she chooses. In 2 states, she looked horrible as a South Indian, her Tamil accent was pathetic. Still she was the only choice, obviously due to the production house that made the movie. Vidya Balan or Tabu suited the role of Gangubhai, she looked exactly like a school kid in Grandma's costume in fancy dress competitions. If you want to put her in the league of Daniel Day Lewis, you are entitled to your own opinion, but that's not a hard fact.

It’s clear that you hold a strong dislike for Sridevi, as it seems you take every opportunity to criticize her films or her as an actress. I only wish you would take a moment to truly watch and appreciate her craft. A perfect example is the intermission scene in Gumrah-when Sridevi’s character is caught at the airport, she delivers a powerful range of emotions: fear, anger, frustration, and utter despair, all in a single moment. I don’t care how good Alia Bhatt performance is, the fact this is a Bollywood and North Indian movie which have a history of Hindi imperialism, bullying south and other cinema in India, arrogance of Hindi cinema, also glorifying infidelity and cheating in the name of sexual liberation, gender politics, I will not praise most Bollywood films including Jigra which has gender politics. There is no way he was not paid for that interview. If you see that interview, there were occasions when he asked a question, and when the star begins to answer, there has been already a change of scenes. It wasn’t a candid conversation. There were many takes. Which signifies that it was a PR game. It does not take a lot of brain to understand that this is essentially a paid review, yes, he has the talent to present in a way, that it appears very natural.

Jammy, for once please put yout love for Alia aside and I want you to listen to me (spoilers: i didnt like the film) Vasan Bala man, all his 3 movies, i felt he has a good storyline and "ideas" but his narration, use of slo-mo, the drama is so bland and uninspiring and BORING. Jigra was too much, i couldn't believe Bala took his audience for granted, ITNA ZYADA! I mean come on man, the loopholes, the plan, all of it felt like a Balayya movie man, atleast we dont look for or expect logic or basic common sense for balayya movies ... but this, this is a Vasan Bala - Alia film, tho minimum logic hona tho chahiye na bc Couldn't tolerate thr movie at all. It kept on testing my patience and felt like it was fooling my intelligence. After the trailer i really wanted to like the film but this was the first movie ever where i walked out before it ended. Such a waste of time, money and efforts.

What is wrong with strong female characters? Jo March, Elizabeth Bennet, Sarah Connor, and Daenerys Targaryen, among so many others, are all strong because they are women, not in spite of it. Yes, a lot of 'strong female characters' are badly written, but being a woman was essential to their characterisation and the narrative they were putting forth was insipid at best. Being written as a strong woman is essential because a lot of us derive our strength from being females.

This might be a "hot take" but I'm glad the "art of mass" is missing cause I'm exhausted seeing indian movies slap on a cool bgm for the hero entry or a mass action scene and make "fighting" cool and edgy and defying the laws of physics. Maybe it's alright for movies to be understated in their approach to action scenes and not make everything "wow hero aa gaya" But obviously I haven't seen the movie yet so I'm not sure how it's edited.
