I think what happened with Logan was that him being asleep for too long essentially made the trap unwinnable for him. As a result, John Kramer realized that if he didn't intervene, he'd go against his own rules of not putting people in traps that were completely unwinnable.

He didn't actually care, plus plot armour. In reality several people would have died directly from their wounds or from infections. E.G. Saw X has a guy taking out bits of his brain - he would absolutely have died even if he completely the game successfully. Same with those who used their blood in saw 5. The conditions in Saw 1 would likely mean that Gordon would have gotten an infection in the stump and needed possible further ambulation, especially without prompt medical care. In Saw 3,even if Jeff had been competent then the driver still would have probably had at least one of his limbs twisted - that kind of damage could easily lead to sepsis. Nerve gases do not work in the way shown in Saw II; to be able to kill in two hours the dose would have to be large enough that the "contestants" would very quickly not be able to function correctly - unable to see, uncontrollable muscle movements, vomiting, cognitive effects etc. and thus completing their tasks would be pretty much impossible.

I’m not sure how the flat screens in the barn can be explained away as a flashback but in terms of Billy, this was the first game he was involved in so it makes sense that he’d look new and pristine, deteriorating as time went on. I really liked this movie despite its flaws and slight plot holes. Definitely a solid entry in the Saw films!

As for Logan being revealed as John's first apprentice they only did that as they needed a way to explain how some of the more complicated traps seen in the earlier films were created. And despite the mixed reaction to the reveal that Logan was the very first apprentice, many fans including me think Logan, and Gordon deserve to be called the true apprentices as they actually held true to John's ideals. Plus the only one Logan actually put in a unwinnable trap was the corrupt cop Hallorand. Also for Spiral we get "spoiler alert" a lead protagonist who manages to pass his tests by remaining calm and actually following instructions with Zeke, plus it's subtly hinted that Zeke's father Marcus worked on one of the Jigsaw Copycat murders during either Hoffman's reign as Jigsaw, Gordon's reign as Jigsaw, or Logan's run as Jigsaw and it didn't end well with this bit of dialogue he states after Zeke convinces him to join the case as a civilian consultant "Jigsaw Copycat this is going to go south real fast." Also it was confirmed we're getting two more films a standard sequel with no direct connections to Spiral called Saw X, and in the near future a Spiral 2 which will stay in the same branch of the timeline as Spiral with Chris Rock stating if and when Spiral 2 happens he will reprise the role of lead hero "Ezekiel "Zeke" Banks, along with another of the lead producers stating that Zeke's story-arc hasn't truly ended yet.

Honestly I fuckin love this movie. I love the twist, I love how on point everything is with the past and present how it makes you believe everything is happening in the same time frame. I loved it all and it gave me goosbumps the Saw movies has always ben one of my favorites. The only thing that extremely disappoints me is that he said "I speak for the dead" instead of "Game Over". Like I get the producers probably wanted something new for their last series film but it would've been so badass if they just said game over!

Truthfully, Ryan deserved to live the most. What he did wasn't malicious or deceitful. What he did was negligent. And while neglect is punishable, it isn't knowingly selling a brakeless bike to an unsuspecting kid, or suffocating your child, then using your sleeping husband as a get out of jail free card, even if he ends his life from guilt in the process. He just made a tragic mistake, being drunk and careless, standing up in a moving convertible. And the biggest thing is that once he did it, he had no ability to change the outcome, or more specifically set things right. The guy selling the motorcycle could have told the kid "the bike is faulty, im not selling it", and the girl didn't try to "snap out of" suffocating the baby, or try to resuscitate it. On the other hand, Ryan fell out of the car. He wasn't able to control the car's movements, and the driver looked back at him, another uncontrollable action. Yes, he caused the crash, but it was indirect, and he wasn't in control of the car.

I honestly respect the Saw franchise because the director and writer were fresh out of filmmaking school and wanted to start up big, but because they had literally 0 experience in the field, they were left empty handed. They used literally every bit of money they had left and gambled on a script and James Wan's directing abilities. THey had enough money to film in 1 room. The rest is history.
