Jiko - Date Night Dinner Experience at Animal Kingdom Lodge | Disney Dining Review

We ate dinner at Jiko - A Cooking Place, located in Jambo House of Animal Kingdom Lodge on Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. We rated this Disney Deluxe Dining experience on ambience and theming, service, drinks, food, and overall experience. This has to be one of the best restaurants on Disney World property and it just reopened after being shut down due to the closures.

Pinotage is a S African creation. A definite must at a restaurant like Jiko. We ate their Thanksgiving 2022 and thoroughly enjoyed our experience as well.

Jiko is awesome! One vacation we stayed at AKL (years before COVID) and they had this wonderful package where a small group of people could ride in a tour vehicle around the Savannah area for an on site safari. Prior to the safari the group was treated to hors d'oeuvres at Jiko. Upon completion the group then was served a family style dinner at Jiko. It was terrific and one of our best memories we ever experienced at Disney. This deal was only available for people that stayed at AKL. I don't know if they still offer that experience...

Love your review, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Have been following your podcasts since last summer, love them too. You wondered what 'pap' means. Pap is the Dutch (or South African) word for... grits or porridge! It's what babies get to eat when starting with more solid food here in the Netherlands. Toddlers get it as their breakfast, some people still eat it when older (instead of bread/sandwich or cereals). Pap is made out of milk and some sort of flour like oatmeal/buckwheat/rice or plain flour etc. Pap is also used to call your dad, so it has two meanings in Dutch. Love from the Netherlands, Marieke
