Twisted Monkey Music has set a May 14th release date for the 2nd solo album 'Getaway Driver' by Scottish singer/songwriter JILL JACKSON.
Months, miles, club shows, halls, theatres, festivals, encores, second encores: through good
old-fashioned gigging, word-of-mouth enthusiasm and constant, overwhelming radio play Jill Jackson went from being an unknown Scottish singer-songwriter to international star with her then band Speedway.
Now a solo artist and being the ever-restless songwriter she's been from her early teens, she's alchemised those experiences into the sound of her second album, 'Getaway Driver'. Big, bold and dramatic. Intimate, tender and touching. It's Jill Jackson, full-voiced and rebooted and re energised, with added hammering guitar, bass and piano.
An album of autobiographical nature , small life stories that add up to one big story - with the exception of title track 'Getaway Driver' which tells the story of a bank robbery!
"I've always wanted to rob a bank since I was young - and I would do it dressed as Elvis! Travelling across America I have a lot of time to think and always thought it would be cool to rob a bank...but I don't think it would be the same trying to rob the Clydesdale Bank in Glasgow - the chase wouldn't be as good for a start"
'Getaway Driver' was recorded in the state of the art 'Gorbals sound' Studios in Glasgow. Produced by Jill, over viewed by Teenage Fanclub Norman Blake and mixed by the son of legendary Calum Malcolm - Cameron Malcolm.
Music in recent years has become more impersonal and so much about the beat. Jackson's songs make you stop and listen.
