The guitarists name is Sena, and he's a guy. Jiluka are amazing and uniqe. I think I've already mentioned another great band, but I'll do it again. You should listen to the chinese VK-band called Scarlet Horizon with their song Crown.

Jiluka are a Visual Kei band, which is a niche scene in Japan. Something that gets missed by a lot of people is that it's mostly independent and self financed bands away from the mainstream. (There's a bit of stigma around the scene too. It's really not the super manufactured and popular scene many in the West may assume) So the level of presentation, polish, musicianship is even more amazing given that information. Another thing that gets missed is that while the landmass of Japan is small, it's population is around 120 million plus. Four times that of Australia, I think 🤔... I think that is also a reason why not only vk bands, but just bands and music from Japan is such a high level both in execution and creativity. And breadth... It's not all idol. You have to do something remarkable to stand out. Dexcore, and Deviloof are also Visual Kei... And so is Versailles. It's not a genre specific scene, so never assume what you'll get. Everything from pop rock to deathcore is covered... Sometimes in the same song. Kumari is definitely a good choice for a Jiluka follow up. As is Lethal Affliction, and Ajna.

Really informative comment, thank you

@@nathandjohnny you're most welcome. I've been following the scene for about 5 years, lurking in Japanese twitter and just deep diving through blogs and forums. It's hard to find good info, so I try to share what I can when I spot people who seem genuinely interested.

I like to call it the "oddly attractive for some reason" scene.

Producers: "So what kind of metal album do you guys want to lay down? 'Core, death, black, nu?" Japanese metal band: "Yes."

loved your reaction! Jiluka are definitely getting more popular in the scene at the moment & they're doing lots to appeal to their overseas fanbase as well :) If you'd liked to check out a band that are more veterans in the scene I totally recommend "Deux" or "Ugly" by the GazettE!

Late to this but, I've been listening to both black/death metal and Visual Kei since the 90s.. and the fact VK does heavier stuff now is really odd and jarring, but im glad some westerners are picking up on some of it.

Great band! They are super good live too. One of the best live I saw in my entre life. They genuinely look happy to be on stage and have an amazing energy.

Please react to MIYAVI! He is a japanese guitarist. His slap technique is sick, his new song "New Gravity", is a pop rock mix but it's so nice. He used to be Visual-Kei as a pioneer of the scene years ago. Next year is his 20th year anniversary.

Great example of why I call these guys, Paledusk, Dexcore and the like Polycore (even though their sounds are miles apart). Span so many genres and subgenres within them and I love it all!
