🥃 Since somebody asked...... my favorite "readily available" (a relative term) sherried whiskies would be Aberlour A'bunadh (about $80 , 61% ABV) and Glendronach 18 Allardice (100% matured in Oloroso sherry casks, 46% ABV $160). For bottles a little more challenging to find outside of Texas try the Balcones Brujeria Texas Single Malt (PX and Oloroso sherry casks, 62.9% ABV $120) or for something with a little peat & smoke try Ardbeg Uigedahl (Oloroso sherry casks, 54.2% ABV $80). The most insanely awesome sherry cask aged Scotch whiskies that are total unicorns would be the Bunnahabhain Moine Oloroso Fies Ile Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (I'd give my left nut to get another bottle) and a Glendronach "Hand Filled" bottle, only available at the distillery. 🥃

Hi Rex and Daniel, I totally second doing a Sherry malt list! I have been wondering about differences between several bottles, but do not want to commit to buying them like the Aberlour Abunadh, Bowmore Darkest 15, Balcones Brujeria, Glenfarclas 105 (or any glenfarclas), Glenlivet Nadurro Oloroso, Glendronach 15, and Macallan Classic Cut or Ruby. I don't think you have reviewed some of these so it would be cool to get your take on them. I know some of these are cask strength and some aren't, but it would be hard to get a consistent set of criteria for all "sherry bomb" scotches.

I just bought a bottle at my favorite wine & liquor store. It was $25.67 (incl. tax) here in Mississippi. I've been told that our state ABC tacks on 18% at the warehouse to EVERYTHING! So liquor is no bargain. But Jim Beam is a good solid affordable brand that suits my taste.

I really like Monkey Shoulder, Glenmorangie 10, and Glenmorangie Nectar d'Or (Nectar is my favorite). What should I try next? I was thinking of Bunnahabhain 12, Belvanie 12 doublewood, Abelour 12, Glenfiddich 14 Bourbon Barrel, and Dalmore 12, are those good choices? I'm looking for complexity without sherry! Happy Monday you magnificent bearded bastards! I know scotch distilleries often cask whisky in barrels with heads different from the barrel, do American distilleries do anything similar?
