To the person who recorded and uploaded this video I just want to say that you have done the best job I've seen so far and thank you. I have been binge watching Jim's Q & A's for hours and you are the first to list the questions as well as the first to make sure all the questions were heard in the video. I also think you lucked out that Jim's fiance' was there because he is never this laid back in interviews and he definitely would no have answered so many possible spoiler questions he is really guarded about spoilers.
@AuroraXA6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I also think he was more open about answering questions and his answers because this was a very small, casual convention. It felt more like a large book signing than a convention, really.

love Jim Butcher's stories and the care and mantle James Marsters has taken on to bring them to life in audio format, but i cant help but think of the sound effect from the bomb in The Mouse that Roared each time Jim goes into one of his ' and umm umm umm uh' moments before providing his response in this.... and i dont even know if i think its a bad thing, lol.

On the question about who would he cast himself as, I always felt like Harry is the fantasy personification of every nerd across the country. He's tall, handsome, fit, charming, witty, not socially awkward, gets laid, and powerful. All those characteristics are dialed up to "10" when it comes to Harry. Harry is certainly not without his faults. If you were to ask any nerd what their ideal personification would be, they'd name all of those things to the extend that Harry has them. Wait, or maybe it's just me?
@AuroraXA7 жыл бұрын
Agreed!
@MrSilvUr7 жыл бұрын
Burn Blister Harry is pretty socially awkward. He sorta clumsily tries to fill conversational space with humor while never looking anyone in the eyes and keeping to the edges of a room. He has a small group of friends he often has trouble bringing himself to talk to, and never goes out of his way to talk to strangers. He also gets laid about once a decade, at this rate, Faustian rituals not withstanding.
@mariasmith21987 жыл бұрын
Yes and NO.1)Every female throws herself at him. Mab, to Maeve, Sarissa, Maggy, Murphy to Lara....EVERYONE. 2) When Harry insults bad guys they NEVER EVEN ONCE HAVE A COMEBACK! Its like they seem to suddenly be unable to even recognize humor, despite supposedly being manipulative students of human nature. You would think even if they didn't get a pop culture reference they would get the idea. They aren't morons. The superpowers respect Harry more then seems reasonable. And not for his magic, but for his character. Archangels, Hades, Odin, Mother Winter...everyone just thinks he is amazing. Yes he is brave, and he does succeed in killing off bad guys. But many characters in the series are. Heck, Nicodemus is TAKING ON HEAVEN ITSELF! Talk about Samson and Goliath. However I don't think Harry's character is wishfulfillment. He never gets laid. He doesn't bond with any badass types, only other nerds like himself( except Thomas, who is his brother) and he never shuts up. So I think it is a balanced character.

Thanks someone gets it. I have been binge watching Jim's youtube Q & A questions for hours and many fans look at Harry as a Rock Star lady killer like he is the wizard equivalent of James Bond. Jim has to literally state over and over that Harry isn't the coolest or smoothest guy in the room and he even hinted in this video (which I guess some people ignored) that Harry will probably have a mental break down in a future book. He has PTSD because he sees the worst of monsters and humans every day. Most people would avoid someone like Harry for the reasons you and I mentioned, we fans just love him because we get to see his intermonolog.
@333angeleyes6 жыл бұрын
Well I can't say it's just you because Jim Butcher thinks this also... Though I will say his thinking is probably subconscious not conscious. Consciously he has repeatedly said that Harry isn't cool or seen as cool by others. But at the same time Jim has repeated said that he sees Will Smith playing Harry and we all know that Will Smith can pull off cool... I just don't think Jim realizes he is doing it . So maybe he DOES think Harry is cool.

I use to have this problem but then I started listening to audio book. This way I could still do remedial task that required little to no thinking while enjoying my favorite book.... Though be careful with audio book the reader will make or break the level of enjoyment you get from the book; regardless of how good the book is. I have only read the Dresden Files I haven't listen to any on audio book so I don't know if the audios are good or not

I could be wrong, but I'm sure based on his initial reaction to her and the costume she sported in the few frames in which she appeared that that was Kitty. If I'm right, we might never know because it just might not work outside their relationship.

Rodrick Rogers When Harry was explaining the Unsealy Accords to Murphy near the end of proven guilty, he said that there were a "few" dragons and some are with the accords. so it is possible that we will be seeing more than one and you know none of them are happy with Michael for killing one of them c.c

I think it was in ghost story that it was mentioned that Foo Dogs can live upwards of 200 years.
@coffeesloth53858 жыл бұрын
Oh, cool, thanks. I haven't gotten that far yet. The worst thing about a dog is how much shorter their lifespan is, and that's especially true for large dogs. It wouldn't have been good for Harry to see Mouse 120 years old (In "dog years") after only 7 or 10 human years. Actually, that's not good for anyone, is it?
