I love seeing how he handles moments where they are asking questions that make him uncomfortable. He gets put on the spot a lot and criticized and he always answers so respectfully.

Joy is Italian. But yes, she is rather unpleasant. But it has nothing to Do with being Jewish

She just pushes every and all liberal Jew loving propaganda. I've never seen this clip before and the moment it started and I saw her face my eyes were fixated on her and I was waiting for her to open her mouth and immediately slam the movie in terms of being anti-Semitic -- and guess what, 1. It didn't take long and 2, she never fails. She is as predictable as night and day. She never wants to talk about Israel's treatment of Palestinians or Israel's war crimes. Oh no. A total hypocrite

The problem I have is Joy Behar’s comment about it being antisemetic. Antisemetic is defined as "hostile to or prejudiced against Jews”. Okay, in no way was The Passion of the Christ prejudiced against Jews, because when Mel Gibson made the film, he wasn’t “pre-judging” or “assuming” anything against the Jews. Before inserting anything into that movie, Mel would first cross-reference it with the Gospels, in order to make sure that it matched up. Virtually everything that was in that film was entirely Biblically based. This means that it was entirely based on the Word of God. The Jewish people, according to the Bible, DID hand him over to be crucified. This isn’t up for debate. This is just what the Bible says. Sometimes the truth hurts. Sometimes we don’t want to hear the truth because we don’t like the outcome. The whole antisemetic debate about The Passion of the Christ being controversial, is not so much of an attack against the film itself like it may seem to be, when glancing at it from the surface. Rather, it is an attack against the Bible, and therefore, Christianity. If Joy Behar finds the film offensive, then good! Sometimes God will say things to us that we may find offensive, because when it comes to the truth, Jesus doesn’t care about our feelings! He is far more concerned about where we will spend eternity. By the way, just because it may reveal some harsh realities about what the Jewish people did to Jesus, is not an offense to the current Jews today (with the exception that they don’t believe in the the trinity). This is because you cannot hold somebody accountable for someone else’s actions, particularly when they occurred a long time ago, when that individual wasn’t even born! I mean, Jesus loves the Jewish people, because after all, he himself was a Jew. However, he is against Judaism. The Book of Hebrews is soley focused on the issue of Judaism.

Jesus cares about our feelings. What He surpasses and bypasses and does not take into consideration- because it is of no consequence to us- are our mental hangups, those mental blocks which are not who we are anyway... nor are they who He knows we CAN be in Him.

Okay, now you said that the Jewish people handed Jesus over to be crucified. No, many Jews at that time didn't even know who he was. It was the Saheidrun{?}, the ruling body of the Temple in Jerusalem that set him up for his crucifixion because they feared his growing influence on the common people and his message. Judas was paid his thirty pieces of silver by a Jewish priest. Ordinary Jews had nothing to do with his death. And Pontius Pilaite{? Again, I'm not sure how this is spelled.} tried to wash his hands of the whole affair because his wife told him she had a prophetic dream--or at least that's what the Gospels record. And please remember that nearly all of the early Christians {who were not called that until at least a couple of centuries later--Roman historians of that time called them Nazarene Jews} were Jewish by birth. Gentiles were not a big part of Jesus's following until the Apostle Paul took Christ's teachings to Greece and other parts of the Roman Empire.

The Jews at the time were the tools that God used to bring about our salvation, but it was us and our sins (every human being on this planet) that nailed him there on that cross, not just those jews at the time that decided to sentence him to death.

@@ff6girl I don't think you got the point I was trying to make. (you won't be the only one) Ordinary Jews (the bulk of Jesus's followers) had little to do with his death; it was the wealthy, powerful priesthood that set him up for it through Judas. And Jesus knew it was coming, knew Judas would identify him to the Romans. In fact, if you follow the basic narrative in the recently uncovered Gospel of Judas, Christ warned Judas that he would have to do something to preserve Christ's ministry and teachings that would break his heart and drive him away from the other Deciples. (Yes, I know, I am a lousy speller.) This is probably where the tradition that Judas committed suicide came from; I've read of no other evidence that Judas killed himself, though if he was distraught enough at what he had to do, he very well might have. At this point we don't really know.

And yes, the Passion of the Christ is raw brutal and honest. Mel Gibson followed the original source material (Christian Scripture) very closely. To make the film true to its origins, he had to. It is not a pretty story--after all, this was a time when a thief lost a hand if he was caught--and he didn't necessarily get a trial. After the second hand was lost, the head was taken--making it a real 'three strikes' rule. Gibson made a movie that was honest about the brutal background and story he had to tell. And there's where its power is: in its raw honesty and passion. Jim Cavaziel deserved at least an Oscar nomination for his work.

You mean to tell me only Jewish people were offended by how these particular Hebrews... who sentenced Christ to death and made Him (one of their own) into a punching bag... were portrayed? You don't see too many Italians stepping forward and saying "But look how AWFUL the Romans were portrayed!" Think about THAT.

Joy is mad about how Jewish people were portrayed but truth be told they Jewish pharisees of Jesus’s day hated Jesus and did hand him over to be crucified. This is not an attack on Jews. All people who reject Christ are his enemies. If you watch Christian preachers over in Israel now, they are also reviled by the Jews. There are some Jews who have turned to Christ. The Jews are God’s chosen people but many reject him.

Jim looks almost identical to the Catholic Priest that we’re in Canton NY. The priest were a set of twins. And every time they came on the floor at the hospital I worked at, to do communion. All of us would stop and just stare!! Lol they were drop dead gorgeous!! Unfortunately one has passed away..and the other is not there anymore.
