I attended The Texas Stadium show when Kerry beat Flair....the amazing thing was 50,000+ people showed up...on the same day the Dallas Mavericks were hosting the Lakers in an NBA Playoff game that Sunday at the same time.

Gino Hernandez and Chris Adams ruled... Underrated molten hot heat seeking heels... Would have loved to see them on WTBS.
@RealEricLWalker6 жыл бұрын
Gino had a brief run on WTBS in 1982, but Chris and Gino were perfect heels for The Von Erich's. They drew almost 30,000 at The CottonBowl for the Hair Match. Sadly, this was the last really good crowd WCCW would get as the downhill slide began. Perhaps coming back with that match on Christmas Night 2 months after a blowoff match wasn't the best idea and sadly the least of it.

Born and raised in Dallas.....I can still remember my first Cowboys game when I was ten years old in 1989.... The 1-15 season lol.... my first rock concert (Pink Floyd in 1994 @ Texas Stadium) I was a little guy but I can remember watching The Von Erich's battle The Freebirds. Bradstreet USA !!! Hahaha... The Dynamic Duo (Chris Adams & Gino Hernandez).... Talk about getting major heat.... The Freebirds and The Dynamic Duo.... So many are gone now. RIP to all the Von Erich brothers (Kevin is still with us Thank God) & RIP to Chris Adams & Gino Hernandez..... Gino (murdered by some coke dealers more than likely) not too many people believe the cocaine overdose explanation. Chris Adams was gone just a few years after Gino Hernandez died. Terrible. Jim Cornette said in another interview that the fans in Dallas felt taken advantage of by the late 1980's.... Dallas loved Pro Wrestling but unfortunately.... The popularity just faded away.

Rodney Duffer yeah bro, those were good times. I grew up east of Dallas. Going to Cowboys games and the Sportatorium on Kadiz and industrial. My father worked with a guy that was an Usher at the Sportatorium. Got to meet a lot of cool folks back then.

I got even luckier - when I was in high school, I worked at a Japanese restaurant as a busboy and the owner also owned a Goju-ryu karate dojo, which I got to attend for free! It was awesome - I am in the bar side of the restaurant(as a 16 year old kid!) waiting for my interview with the owner, and Bruce Lee's "Game of Death" is playing on the big screen tv. hehehe That was a looong time ago - I will be 50 in July.

The Kevin Von Erich-Flair match should have had a dusty finish. Remember DQ in WCCW titles changes hands if memory serves, BUT NOT UNDER NWA RULES. So Flair does something causes DQ, ref bump, second ref makes a 3 count with Kevin OTR body press on Flair as usual. Awarded belt and brothers celebrate but first ref said he disqualfied Flair. WCCW ref says new champion because dq title changes. NWA official says title does not change hands on dq. Or just say that on tv like they did with Starrcade 85 dusty-flair

It was a two ring 12 man tag. In one Ring it was Kevin, kerry, and Mike Von Eric vs. Rip Oliver, Kamala, The One man Gang and Dr. Death Steve williams. In the other ring if was the Freebirds vs. Gino Hernandez and Chris Adams it was a best of 5 which team Von Eric and Team Freebirds who were faces at the time won 3-2. "Moon destroy that car." Gary Hart to the OMG. Kevin Von Eric won a car because he pinned Dr. Death. OMG was tackled and Gino and Chris ended up destroying the car. I guess for now on I'll listen to the whole thing before commenting.

@yesthisisvic7 жыл бұрын
He was supposed to be in the match, but he was replaced by Rip Oliver on the team after being "injured" in his match with Von Erich. To this day, no one's really sure whether that was a planned angle, Flair really was injured in the match with Kevin or just decided to bail on the match. But, up until the actual match, he was in it.
