As someone who lives right outside Chicago, the areas around Midway and O'Hare couldn't be more different. I couldn't imagine a bunch of southern boys flying into Chicago expecting to stay near O'Hare where it's surrounded by hotels and nice restaurants and is genuinely suited for traveling businessmen, and ending up in Midway trying to find a cab and motel at 3 am (especially in the 80's).

Being right in the middle of the triangle of SF, Sacramento and Fresno. I can tell you that the "Corny Car Spin" on an I-80 or I-580 mega 5-6 lane highway is a pants shitting experience. You're also going downhill btw. And California roads in the rain are shit and nobody knows how to drive worth a shit in the rain...Amazing that he made it out unscathed. Great story.

I'm always amazed when someone tells a story and they recall the year precisely and they're correct about it as if it happened last week. I'm good for my birth year, September 11th, and everything else is "sometime back in the 80's, 90's, or 10 to 20 years ago maybe" etc.

Ahh, White Castle. A buddy and I stopped at one on 8 Mile Rd. in Warren, across the road from Detroit. We ordered $25 worth of food, but the cashier gave it to us for free, no explanation given. We are both still alive, and neither if us got sick that night, so it was all good.

This made me remember a time when I was little. My parents and I would travel once or twice a year to places all over the country. During one stop at a hotel, they were mistakenly given a room that turned out to be occupied already. The man and woman who were fooling around on the bed weren't too happy for the interruption. I think we, and that couple, all wound up staying for free that night.

When they started talking about people contacting you and how they got them to leave them alone, I flashed back to a time when a bill collector was calling me at my moms house and she answered it then gave the phone to me, they asked for me by name, and I told them "You won't be able to speak to him because he recently died. They apologized, and I ever heard from them again.
