Every wrestling fan remembers Marty Janetty; of course he would of been over in SMW. He was on the receiving end of one of wrestlings biggest heel turns ever
@leomdk9394 жыл бұрын
Janetty had three problems he never overcame: 1) drugs, 2) he wasn't able to move on from the 80's look and 3) he couldn't cut a promo to save his life

Funny thing is, Marty Janetty is a very likable guy. He has a nice personality and had he just went with being himself as “Party” Marty Janetty and talk like he does in interviews, he might get over. He does look better with short hair. He just needed to get rid of the drugs, but that’s easier said than done.

When the Rockers were heels in another promotion, Marty actually cut a good promo.

@@AntonXul His hair was one thing -- the other problem with Marty's 80s look was his attire ... the colorful tassles ... it just never got past 1989 and it always just looked like he wanted to keep living in the past and be the rejected half of something that didn't exist anymore, and that's no way to build a singles career.

Let me see. Marty Janetty worked Memphis, he also worked Alabama, Central States,& AWA. Just Memphis alone Marty gave a lot of exposure in the Smokey Mountain area. So Marty in Smokey Mountain makes sense to me.

@@chitownace777 yes and no. he definitely made mistakes but he also happened to open a wrestling promotion during one of the absolutely worst money drawing periods across the board in all of wrestling. you can't fault him for that- everyone in wrestling was in the shitter from 1991-1995 for the most part

My first ever show as a pro wrestler in the indies had Marty on the card, and he was extremely cool and helpful. We all went to Denny's after the show, and I saw him do coke lol. Pretty sure he was micro-dosing it all evening "as needed."
@ramseydoon8277 Жыл бұрын
That's pretty much the standard way to use cocaine. The high from cocaine tends to only last about 20 or 30 minutes so frequent redosing is common.

Like a lot of people,i saw a few vid's of Marty in the last few years an thought "Man this guy iij s just f'd up" ...After watching some interviews w/other top wrestlers/managers of years past speak of Marty,i realize Marty is a himan being who gave his all an ended up being taken by his personal demons...Point is,he's not beneath any of us,he's had major down falls that he just never really recovered from. The guy traveled the world an entertained millions over the decades..He accomplished more than 90% of anyone reading this. God bless him.

Five 5Star Dream Matchs: (1) Marty Jannetty vs. Brad Armstrong. (2) Magnum TA vs. Kevin Von Erich. (3) Bret Hart vs. Barry Windham. (4) 8Man Steel Caged Tag Match: "Dr.Death" Steve Williams, Ron Simmons & The Steiner Brothers (Rick & Scott) VS. "Mr. Magnificent" Don Muraco, Stan Hanson & The British Bulldogs(Davey Boy Smith & The Dynamite Kid). (5) Ted Dibiase & "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff vs. "Living Legend" Larry Zybysko & "Gentleman" Chris Adams. Who would win?
@ChaosDave25 жыл бұрын
Mr. M A J E S T I C XIII . Blackstruggle77 Brad and Marty both made better babyfaces, so that’s a tough one. (Fun fact: a dream tag team of mine is Brad and Brian Pillman.) I’d say Marty, though. Both babyfaces, Brad as the aggressor/antagonist, but not a heel. Same with Magnum and Kevin. I’d actually go with Magnum as a heel, and as the winner. I’d go with Bret over Barry. I’d go with Doc, Ron, and the Steiners, though I’d just have the Bulldogs vs. the Steiners, personally. And finally, I’d have DiBiase & Orndorff over Zbyszko and Adams (via Larry turning on the Gentleman a la Ole turning on Dusty). Good choices, though! I’d watch the hell out of that card.
@ChaosDave25 жыл бұрын
I suppose I’ll do mine. 1) Midnight Express (Bobby and Dennis) vs. the Hart Foundation, 2 out of 3 falls. 2) Curt Hennig vs. Harley Race 3) Brian Pillman vs. Dynamite Kid 4) Arn Anderson vs. Shawn Michaels 5) Steiners vs. the Brisco Brothers (Jack & Jerry, not Jay and Mark. Although that would be fire, too.)
@Desslock10s5 жыл бұрын
1. Janetty 2. Time limit draw 3. Hart 3. Double DQ 4. Adams about to pin Orndorff but Zybysco betrays Adams and the three beat him up until Kevin and TA come in for the save.

I wanted to hear this interview because different wrestlers give their own sides of the story; though I'm not saying that there isn't any credibility in them. From what I'm hearing, Jim made the topic clear: that he wanted to bring fresh new talent to Smoky Mountain Wrestling, rather than those who'd worked for the then-WWF, WCW, etc. Yes, Marty's "personal demons" have been documented and unfortunately took their toll on his career...It's too bad that it's taken until recent years for Marty's peers to mention their appreciation for his wrestling abilities--including Bret Hart and Al Snow, the latter who referred to his abilities as "creative." I don't condemn nor condone his past or present "shenanigans"---for lack of a better word---but I do think people tend to forget that Marty is human.
