Bret had one of the greatest heel runs in the company's history in '97. Michaels was a decent IC guy but after around '95, he just sucked.

He's basically made it clear he dislikes him as a person (to put it mildly), but he's also on record as saying Michaels was the best wrestler of his time. I think he even put him over Bret.

Kamikaze Wordsmith From Hell Nah, he didnt put HBK over Bret, he just said he couldn't compare the two, because their styles were different.

@@RyanIncorporated Well, specifically he hates Michaels from the 90s. He’s never really indicated one way or another if he still holds a grudge against Shawn post-reform. Closest he ever got was saying he’d heard rumors that Trips and HBK were badmouthing OVW to John Laryngitis and that being a possible cause for why Laurinitis was such an asshole to Corny and OVW.

Dante Carroll if only them drugs woulda given michaels some talent, we all know that wasnt for lack of effort on his part. if they worked for him he coulda been half as good as jerry lynn.

I think Bill Watts still remembered Shawn Michaels from Mid South ten years earlier as that little scrub with the MTV t-shirt he hired to get squashed on TV matches by the likes of his adopted son, Dr Death Steve Williams--and his mind never thought of him as being starworthy

Bret and Shawn were essentially the same size. Shawn may have been slightly taller and Brett was a little heavier
@MaxxCoyote
@MaxxCoyote 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah pretty much. Although Bret was the taller at 6'1 to Shawn's 6'0 (although I've heard some people say Shawn was 5'11, I don't think so) Also, Bret was usually heavier...unless you are talking about the time period where Shawn had Nash at his bodyguard, in which case, by Shawn's own words "I was a big fat 240 pounds" due to hanging out with Nash and eating like him.
@FrankieBlueEyes
@FrankieBlueEyes 6 жыл бұрын
MaxxCoyote yep, plus Shawn always came off shorter than he was because he was usually working programs with monsters like Nash, Hall and Vader.

But Bret had a rugged style more in line with Watts' preferences whereas Michaels was flashier. Remember Watts banned top rope moves in WCW. And those styles lead to a different impression of relative styles even if the truth is different.

@@dantecarroll2435 well that’s very sad about his sister. I didn’t assume he was fired, only that when the WWF got really hot he was not a major player and then not there. I assume injuries led to that. He was megaover in 95 though. Gotta give him that. If he could have been a safer worker (to himself as well as his opponents) he might have had an open door back once he took care of family business.

@@chrispineo1979 it’s funny you never heard of people bad mouthing him until he left wwf that’s a pussy move in my opinion instead of saying all of these negative things on camera and for shoot interviews they should’ve been bold enough to say these things to his face because there has always been rumors of Ahmed injuring people but name one person that he actually injured
