But you have to think that was Paul's eight to tenth year in the business. These new kids do not have a chance. They been in the business what a year or two?
@adamrobinette50939 жыл бұрын
lee graves The thing is, because of how talent is developed, as is to day, they're not when it comes to promo experience, 10 years from now, they'll be just as crappy. Performers are told what to say line by line, and so they never really develop the ability to work the crowd, feel them, and switch gears if they need to. No different to why the in ring product is suffering because matches aren't called in the ring anymore. Now, regardless of whether two performers are losing the crowd the rehearsed match isn't being changed. Almost every major moment in pro wrestling history came through spontaneous thinking on the part of the performers.
@tacoma1717 жыл бұрын
Adam Robinette it was natural though. Even though he was searching for words and kind of stuttering on others it was just like you and I talking and having a conversation and not reading a script and going word by word which a lot of guys today do. Worked for me.
@adamrobinette50937 жыл бұрын
Oh, I agree. That's what I was getting at. He never lit the crowd on fire with promos. He wasn't Roddy Piper. But he also didn't seem like someone told him what to say, either, and he didn't come off as someone playing a character.

They both did well to keep it together there, Ordorff almost broke character several times...Mean Gene eventually lost it, what a great interview!

Just getting ready to mention that. Ordorff was having a bit of a hard time holding it together there at the end. Makes you wonder how hard they laughed once the camera cut away.

I left my husband for “Mr. Wonderful” and all I got was a case of the herp and a struggle for child support every month.

There might be something wrong with me, but I always loved hearing Paul Orndorff speak when he was in character.

The good ol days when you had to have the gift of the gab along with in ring talent, promos weren't pre scripted like they are today, I loved these real promos.

Really love seeing a wrestler being interviewed and looking at both the interviewer and the camera and not staring off at the void off camera

I miss these interviews that WWF (now WWE) had. Mean Gean is one of a kind indeed. I recall being a little girl waiting for these promos and interviews, these were the best entertainment around. It was the right amount of drama and entertainment there is. Thank you for posting part of my childhood here.
