It’s honestly so OBVIOUS what happened with AEW when it comes to their arena bookings; - they got “new” hype which lead to a large demand initially for tickets - someone within the company said “holy shit we can book bigger arenas!” And that’s exactly what they did Nobody said “we’re selling 5000 stadiums out, let’s book some 7000 stadiums and see how they do”… they just jumped to booking the biggest arenas possible because nobody took into account that once the “newness” ran out and AEW was less of a “shiny” new thing that attendances would drop and now they’re fucked

"Is it better to sell out a 4000 seat place, or to put 6000 in a 10000 seat place?" "I mean an economics guy, a finance guy will say 6000! ha" Not at all. The 10000 seat place will cost significantly more to rent. Even with straight values, the 10,000 seat place might cost an average 2.5x as much as the 4000 seat place, meanwhile you are only selling 1.5x the tickets as the 4000 seat place. You'd have to raise the ticket price significantly to break-even on the upgrade, which isn't exactly doable if your range of ticket sales only gathers between 4000 and 6000 people to begin with. edit: ah, turns out Cornette makes this exact point later.

TK to stubborn to realize that actual veterans should be EVPs over The Bucks who capitalized on the All In and NJPW Elite BC Hype.
@AdrianBeegoatz

The thing is, the Bucks weren’t even the most interesting part about Bullet Club/Elite to begin with. It was always the Kenny Omega show. And the Bucks were just lackeys in the group. Yet, somehow we’ve been stuck with the Bucks in main event angle after main event angle on AEW tv?? These guys are a midcard comedy heel tag team AT BEST. This is where the glaring issue is with AEW and Tony Khan. He doesn’t put people in the right spots. And he continues to push the wrong guys time and time again to positions that they are not qualified for.

@@AdrianBeegoatz I wanna emphasize on a maybe related or not note that there have been outlaw schmucks campaigning for pockets Cassidy to be in AEW like crazy, and TK and presumably with cucamonga influence signed pockets. While don't get me wrong pockets imo can actually wrestle, the gimmick is dumb that if he faces someone like at least Samoa Joe he'd just clothesline him after the first "kick". Pockets is more suited to wrestle in DDT in Japan as it's Japanese outlaw wackotown.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Vince McMahon stepping down was the worse thing that could happen to AEW. AEW started with alot of hype cause of Vince McMahon being at the top of WWE running it. People were happy to see something different that wasn't stupid and out of touch. That was when AEW came around. At a good time. Now that Vince left people don't wanna watch it. Cause they are now seeing all their flaws. Just how they saw the flaws with WWE. Which WWE still has their flaws. Just not as much as AEW has.

Aew puts on incredible ppv. The problem is that hardly any of those matches are the result of a consistent and easily digestible conflict. When they have had something i.e MJF vs Wardlow, or Keith Lee vs Swerve, they fail to send it properly. It's frustrating as someone who had hopes because it's such a simple problem to solve.

In 5 years the only new stars in AEW are ones signed from other companies. They dropped the ball again and again with the likes of Starks, Wardlow and no doubt they will with Swerve. Think of 5 years in WWF/WWE. 1989-1994? 1994-1999? 1999-2004? Always bringing new people up the card and keeping the product fresh. Thats why in the Cena years (and early attempts to get Roman over) it felt so stale. And it's why AEW feels stale now

I can only speak for myself: I, too, had enthusiasm initially. But I saw how things progressed for the worse and I gave up. Especially after Punk quit. My point: I know what it looks like when a promotion falls on hard times. UWF/Mid-South in 1987, World Class in 1988, AWA in 1989, WCW in 1999. I've seen how things can get completely out of control and promotions can die. AEW is no different.

The first AEW match I saw involved the Young Bucks in a multiman cage match when one of the bucks had pins in his shoe showing to the camera and then putting into his opponents face. I turned the show off almost immediately. I am rooting for an opposition to the WWE competition is good, work for wrestlers is good. I want wrestling to succeed. But AEW is failings and it is sad. We may never get another chance to see a competitive product to the WWE.

My opinion, without being involved in the business at all, but when there is a company that constantly produces hardcore matches and everyone is doing the same kind of stunts it is hard for me to differentiate between a face or heel while watching. Also the fact that they have champions from multiple companies from all around the world makes it confusing to the casual fan to know who really is the top dog. The company is a mess.

Look up Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines Iowa seating chart for Dynamite coming in June. They have at least 75% of the seats in the arena closed off. The building holds over 16,000 for a basketball game, not sure of the total available for AEW.
