Even when you watch the biography the evolution of the Kane was brilliant not being able to talk, losing the mask I remember seeing him call the fire without the mask man he had a lot of emotion Kane was a great gimmick hopefully I mean I don't know if he has the talent but maybe WWE can learn a thing evolving Dexter Lumus over time that gimmick has to evolve or it belongs in comedy but maybe that's where it belongs

I never minded the unmasking. It reminded me of Harvey Dent/Two-Face in "The Dark Knight Returns." In the comic, Dent's face is eventually fixed to make him look normal again, but it turns out his psyche was never repaired. His mind was so damaged that he saw his entire face as being scarred whenever he looked in a mirror. So it makes sense to explain the burns and scars as simply being all in his mind.

The "burn scars" being some psychological thing would have been fine if not for the fact multiple times during the Undertaker feud they had Paul Bearer specifically say Kane caused the fire that killed his parents
@anthonypennington5788

I always took it that it was second degree burns which can be healed but takes time to heal because Kane said in the interview where he burned Jr that the doctors told him the burns would heal but Kane being a young kid and not knowing better plus Paul bearer wanting a monster he can control didn't believe them that's how I took it

My whole problem with that was that all the things that made Kane who he was, the disfigured freak who has trouble speaking were never explained, never fleshed out. During 2000-2001 Kane was my favourite (The Undertaker being injured and then American Bad Ass). Physically he was in fantastic shape at this time and his was the only gimmick that carried on with the horror theme. To see him then doing hurricanras in matches and dropkicks made him look really impressive. However, I think anything outside of his on/off feud with The Undertaker was booked pretty poorly. He always just seemed to be an enhancement talent. The only other times his character was booked well was when he was unmasked and went crazy, and then the comedy with Team Hell No.

Kane was like something from graphic novel or a band like slip knot, the first few years before they changed him up. The voicebox, mask, head tilt and one dead eye was just absolutely brilliant. Kane was a tragic, neutral villain heel. So it kinda works for them to go under certain directions with him. The things they did to humanize Kane were interesting (minus Katie Vick) before he unmasked. I don't mind him having funny interactions with X-Pac, RVD or Hurricane. It seemed intentional to always pair him with green attired, goofball/pothead like characters that counteract against his emotionless, machine, sadistic mentality and open him up more in a good way without taking away how badass he is.

The point is that he's pinned cleanly, proving that he isn't invulnerable. A screwy DQ win would continue with this aura of an unstoppable monster. Undertaker was unbeaten at WM until Lesnar. That was nigh on invulnerability. Once his shoulders were pinned that was it. No more mystique, no more aura. It opened the floodgates so even one-move-Roman could beat him. Ask yourself, would Undertaker vs Reigns have been a more enticing prospect if the streak was still intact? Of course it would! They could've continued Kane's destructive path until the following Wrestlemania with the right storytelling and neither character coming out the other end looking weak. They pulled the trigger too early is what I'm trying to say.
