@jessebaker2769
@jessebaker2769 4 жыл бұрын
@@Thebestoutthere The argument has been made that WWE didn't give a shit about Hager/Swagger and treated him as a jobber at best and at worst, only gave him a half-assed push because Vince was still pissy that Kurt Angle quit and went to Impact in the mid-00s as far as Jack's entire WWE career started with him being a replacement Kurt and then turned into a jobber once Vince realized that fans weren't buying him as a replacement for Kurt. AEW however.... has largely booked to Jack's strength, limited his promo time in favor of having him just stand there and look scary as Jericho's bodyguard (and play up Jack's success in MMA, which has done a LOT to redeem him in the eyes of fans, since unlike CM Punk, Jack's had legit success in MMA) and treat him as a silent menace. Which has done a huge amount to rehab Jack in the eyes of people, making him seem cool and be seen as something other than the jobber he was seen as in the WWE.

 @The Best Did you even read my post? If Jack was in WWE, he'd be a jobber supreme loser. In AEW, he's Jericho's No 2 and second, which is far better than being treated as a total and complete loser by Vince and company, who have repeatedly shown that they don't care for Jack and treated him like garbage for years, because he didn't do the impossible when he started out, as far as making people forget all about Kurt Angle.

Jericho just wanted to wrestle his buddy [Dr. Luther] on his anniversary. Let's be honest, muh dudes, Jericho is miliking the fuck outta Tony Khan. He's become like Hall & Nash in WCW, he even jumped into a pool (of orange mimosa). Jericho probably cares a little more than Hall & Nash did but its clear Jericho is just draining money from this promotion. Jericho quickly monetizes everything he says or does in AEW, no doubt to prove to Vince he's still marketable at 50+ when he inevitably returns. He'll help a guy or two while he's there but Jericho is looking to cash out in a major way off this run. Can't say I blame the dude. I really can't.

Jericho WAS great. He has had fantastic matches/rivalaries with a lot of people, his most notable being his feud with shawn Michaels back in 2007. But he has done a lot of great things throughout his career. His matches with cm punk, rey misterio jr, kurt angle, Chris benoit, etc were awesome. The man knows what great wrestling looks like. He has reinvented and, if he were in his prime; he would still be wrestling for the wwe today. In the past year or so, Jericho has seemed to lose his mind. Maybe it's because he can no longer go in the ring but now, he seems to just want to get sprayed with orange juice and share the ring with idiots like Marko Stunt and Jelly Nutella. It's sad but he does have the right to finish out his legendary career in whatever manner he sees fit. You can suffer through it if you like. Personally, I just don't watch aew.

Two things are happening... 1. Everybody is milking Tony Khan for all he's worth so they can get paid lots of money and do whatever they want. and 2. The fans know this stuff is bad, but they're defending it because they desperately want AEW to be in the same league as WWE and be competition for them. They don't want to feel like they're supporting something that's going to fail, so they're doing everything in their power to make it look like something it's not.
@freddiejohnson6137

The thing is a lot of these people are probably the ones that got behind TNA in the same way then years later when it failed denied ever liking it. Wrestling fans have become so tribal over a single promotion they feel they have to defend everything about it and act like a child as say bad things about the promotions they don't like then complain when others do the same. It is funny to read at times but it does make wrestling fans as a whole look bad.

MJF needs to go back to MLW, honestly. At least he had popular weekly segments with his Dynasty buddies. I felt like had MJF stayed, they could've been something closer to a modern day Horsemen. Partying, hints of goofiness, but with plenty of charisma and talent.

i didn't see this match originally but i died laughing listening to Cornette blister everything about it. so it gave me a morbid curiosity to check out the clip and man....basically, this match was the equivalent of Manos: The Hands of Fate with Luther playing the role of Torgo and Jericho, thinking he was Tom Cruise but instead being Val Kilmer. This match did no one any favors. For all intents and purpose, it should have been a backyard match. Even Jim Ross was trying to throw in a few snide remarks. I get not wanting to do a big match because of the lack of attendance but you're really scraping at the bottom of the barrel here. i guess the only bright side is Cornette being the equivalent of Mystery Science 3000 here.

Normally, I agree with you and your southern charm, Jim. But, Hayabusa was a main event level attraction in Japan for FMW and AJPW (among other promotions) throughout the 1990's. You had the aerial grace of Great Muta/Tiger Mask mixed in with the tough as nails, hardcore style of Terry Funk. Plus, the whole Phoenix/Ninja gimmick was cool as hell. Hayabusa's time as a Professional Wrestler still resonates with fans, Jim. You don't need to be a Wrestling historian or a Japanese tape trader to know who Hayabusa was. Just like you don't need to be a modern AEW fan to appreciate Hayabusa's ring exploits. Not every Wrestler referenced needs to a decorated veteran from the territories or a relevant superstar from the PG era. I thought mentioning Hayabusa was a small sign of respect and, just maybe, enough to warrant a quick google search for those who weren't aware of Hayabusa in general.
