Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on KZbin, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on KZbin. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on KZbin, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

Jim died way to soon. I often wonder what other great songs he would have come up with if he was still around. My favorite by him is "Time in a Bottle".

"You Don't Mess Around With Jim" has the classic line "You don't tug on Superman's cape, you don't spit into the wind, you don't pull the mask off the ol' Lone Ranger and you don't mess around with Jim." More Jim Croce gold.

Jim Croce, an American treasure, an American tragedy. Like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams Sr. and many others, the road took them away from us. Skynyrd, Patsy and Jim in airplanes, and Hank in a car. But he was great while he was here, a master story teller and musician, and that is what we should celebrate. "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" was his first major hit, as I remember it, but others soon followed, even after he had passed. "Operator", "I 'll Have To Tell You That I Love You In A Song", "Roller Derby Queen", "Working At The Car Wash Blues", etc. Thanks Jim, we still miss you, and what could have been.

HUGE loss when we lost Jim Croce. A masterful singer-songwriter. What a gift he was. I'm so lucky I was able to enjoy his genius while he was alive. They don't make them like Jim anymore.

"Leroy looked like a jigsaw puzzle with a couple of pieces gone". I always loved that line. Jim Croce's way with words and as a storyteller was an art and he always painted a vivid scene for you to close your eyes to so you could be there with him.

Ha!! Don't recall ever hearing that backstory. Can't even begin to tell you how popular this song was back then. EVERYbody knew the story of big bad Leroy Brown, and they ate it up. 👍👍

Yep, he "learned a lesson 'bout a-messin' with the wife of a jealous man." Great song, great fun, with song and reaction. You'll eventually make your way around to You Don't Mess Around With Jim," which is a bit of double entendre and metaphor about fighting and playing pool.

When this song first came out my little brother was a chubby little guy and he thought he said fat fat Leroy Brown fattest man in the whole damn town and he'd go around singing it, and then when he'd get done he'd say it's okay to be fat because of Leroy Brown. When he became a teenager and discovered girls he slimmed down and enjoyed his life. It was seriously funny back in the day.

Always loved the song, but I never saw this performance. It's great! It's like having the two of them come to one of the jam sessions me and my friends have. Just the two of them playing their guitars and singing, with a world of musical magic!

I used this song, with modified lyrics, as my "campaign" song when I ran for student council VP back in 1974. Won by a landslide! Thanks Jim!

Another great reaction brother. The funny thing about this is that I remember singing this a lot and third and fourth grade, both on the playground, and also, and older black woman ran our music program in that grade school and I was so lucky to be there for a little while, and she actually had us learning this as a third grade music class to sing it at one of the quarterly things they did where all the parents and friends and community members would come to hear these kids perform these songs and that was one of them. She was really rigid and strict but she also had this down home attitude and you could tell she loved all the kids so much. I was lucky enough to meet up with her on Facebook decades later, not that long ago before she passed. And it was really nice to make that final connection for somebody who had influenced me so much that early on.

It was said that Jim had promised his wife that he would stop touring but he had an obligation to do one more tour and that was when he died in the crash. His wife was, understandably, very upset and wouldn’t talk about it for quite a while.

This was an unexpected treat. I don’t think I ever heard him speaking before. He did have a great sense of humor. “. . . totally prepared for life in the twelfth century.” Yeah, I kind of felt like that when I graduated from college too. You didn’t really comment on the brown letter, signed by a general, which said, “Come play with us.” I thought that meant he was being drafted to go to Vietnam. I just looked it up and he actually joined the army national guard, probably to avoid the draft. He had to go through basic training twice because he wasn’t good with authority. I wonder if the general was with the national guard. That would be a good recruiting strategy, offering young men an alternative to the draft. I look forward to seeing you react to “You Don’t Mess Around with Jim”. I’ve often thought it’s practically the same song as “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown” but changed up a little. No one cared though, because both songs are so fun and catchy.

When Jim Croce was in the army, I’m pretty sure it was because of the draft. So Leroy wasn’t just avoiding completing his contract for service. He was a AWOL drafted soldier during a time of war. That will get you time in Leavenworth

Back in the days of vinyl, but after the death of Jim, a double album was released called "The Faces I've Been". One entire side of one of the LPs was Jim telling stories. You might want to check it out.

I hitch hiked with a friend from Chicagoland to Yellowstone Park, down to Salt Lake City and back when I was 16 in 1974. Heading back east we got picked up by an AWOL Marine from Camp Pendleton in California. He was headed home to Michigan. At one point he ran out of gas money and we waited several hours in a Western Union station in North Platte Nebraska for his family to wire transfer him cash. That was how you had to do it back then no bank transfers using your phone ha ha. I have sometimes wondered what kind of punishment awaited him. As for Jim Croce my favorite is I Got A Name. Edited to add I have actually been bit by a junk yard dog, again at age 16 in 1974. Darn dog was loose as I was walking past the yard he startled me from behind I jumped and he bit😵🥴😵‍💫. I bet Jim could have wrote a story about that.

Sad that these two lost their lives so early in their careers. This song reminds me of "Bring Back That Leroy Brown" from Queen. Freddie wrote it as a shout out to Jim Croce after his death. Freddie interpreted Leroy's character in his own way but the song is a fun, ragtime take on Leroy Brown.
