I remember the day he died. A breaking news bulletin came on the TV. I was so sad. We had played and played his 8track album so much that I felt I knew him. I cannot believe how much he accomplished by age 30! We were so blessed with good music.

His songs were stories..which touched your heart..he had so many hits that people have forgotten about because of Time in a bottle and Leroy Brown..you could listen and think the guitar driven music is simple but all his work is far from simple. I hope this gets more people into this mans music..very dark day when the world lost this talented man..his voice is like velvet.. oh Jim..your songs touch my heart..thank you Jovaughan for promoting this mans magic..🇬🇧💞✝️🙏👏👏

This song and "Operator" are my 2 favorite Jim Croce songs. An obvious next choice from him is "You Don't Mess Around with Jim", a song that is similar to "Bad Bad Leroy Brown". Another good song of his that's a less obvious choice is "One Less Set of Footsteps". As far as artists that you haven't reacted to in awhile that you should hear more of, one that's kind of in the same vein as Croce is Carole King, who I think you've only reacted to once, and that was over a year ago. I recommend "I Feel the Earth Move" for your next Carole King song.

Another great folk rock singer songwriter who we lost so young. This is the music I grew up with. Unique storyteller & ballad singer. He touches your soul. He had a lot of great hits in his short career. "Photographs & Memories", "Time In A Bottle", "Operator", "Bad Bad Leroy Brown", "You Don't Mess Around With Jim", "Workin' At The Car Wash Blues," "I'll Have To Say I Love You In A Song", "Roller Derby Queen" etc.

Thank You, Jovaughn. Theres nothing better than to see GenZ truly appreciating Jim Croche. The entire Folk Rock/ Soft Rock Era, really. James Taylor, the Kingston Trio, the Highway Men, Pete Seger, Woody Gutherie, Arlo Guthrrie, the list goes on. We the children of the 60s & 70s cherish this music not only because of the uniqueness & beauty of souls such as Jim, but because this music taught us to be determined to maintain a positive attitude. It also taught us that you can make a difference in the world through tasteful, beautiful music Our time as children & 'teenagers we owe to Jim Croche & so many others. We are forever better people because of his influence. And hes another reason many of us HAD TO pick up a guitar & learn. We became musicians because of him, too Wow! It still gives me tears of joy & goosebumps hearing _Ive Got A Name._ Best of Success to you with your channel, Jovaughn. And God Bless You 💜💜

This was Jim's very first posthumous hit..spending 17 weeks in the top ten of the BB Top 100. I honestly think, were he alive today, he would be included along with Paul Simon and Bob Dylan as one of the greatest song writers of all time. He was such an extraordinary talent. x #RIPJim

The great thing about Croce, though, is that despite his way too early departure, he's still generally listed as a top ten songwriter of all time. Undoubtedly deserved.

Jim sang about stuggles, lonliness, happy times and aspects of an everyday peoples life. Just when his popularity was about to explode ,after years of disappointments, his life was taken. He left behind a wife and a young son. R.I.P. Jimbo, your music will live forever!

This is my favorite Jim Croce song. It was a massive hit and he didn't even want to record it to begin with because he didn't write it. His manager and producers talked him into recording it. 😉 If you have not already done so, please react to Jackson Brown. He's another great singer songwriter with some killer hits like Running On Empty. 👍

I'll Have to Say I Love You in a Song, is an another great must. He had stayed out too late with the boys, and when he got home , his wife had gone to bed and had the bedroom door locked. So he wrote this song on a sheet of paper and slid it under the door to her.

Great song. Used to do this on the street in Vancouver, '78. A genuinely talented artist, deeply missed. RIP, Jim. Music by Charles Fox, lyrics by Norman Gimbel. I didn't know that. Great song in any case and another winning performance. Gimbel also wrote the lyrics for 'Killing Me Softly', (another surprise) among others.

This was a great time to be an acoustic guitar player and in high school I had JIm, Janice Ian, John Denver, Cat Stevens, Gordon Lightfoot, Bread and the early Eagles to keep me constantly learning new songs. Also, many of these songs were magnets for women which was a plus as well. Sadly, we have lost some of these sing songwriters, and I have lost many of the people that played guitar with me in the parks and beaches around San Diego, but I still have the memories. You could not recreate that now.

My firstborn son sometimes wouldn't be able to sleep until I put Jim Croce in the 8-track player, the only problem was the 8-track was in the car, so I'd get in the car and drive around playing Jim Croce until my son went to sleep, I didn't mind in any way! Finally I bought some albums by him and was able to listen to those right at home on the record player, so it was the best of both worlds for my son, although I still drove him around sometimes listening to music just for the fun of it and gas was super cheap at this time, we had gas wars going on and I could fill my gas tank for around two dollars at eleven cents a gallon! Now those were the good old days! Wages were around $1.50 an hour back then too, but things were alot cheaper, like cigarettes were fifty cents a pack and sodas were a quarter! I paid ninety dollars a month in rent with everything included! Could you even imagine prices like that?
