The success of Backstage on Broadway, which I write and produce, demands repeats on PIX11 MORNING NEWS as well as PIX11 WEEKEND NEWS @ TEN. Here's the Weekend Version I have excerpted using FINAL CUT PRO X, an editing program, about which I refrain from commenting.
I have admired Dale since I was a schoolboy, when he was starring in the 'CARRY ON' comedy film series starring Kenneth Williams, Barbara Windsor and other hysterically funny masters of laughter. The films were subtitled in the US even though they were spoken in English, because some of the British accents sounded so "foreign" at the time. My good friend Ricky Hamer, who was Production Manager at the National Theater, got me a ticket to see Jim in an odd play called 'The Architect and the Emperor of Assyria' by Fernando Arrabal. It was a revelation for me and a huge breakthrough for Jim as well as for another fellow who went on to achieve some notoriety, Anthony Hopkins. I also saw Jim at the National in 'The Merchant of Venice,' starring Laurence Olivier. When you're exposed at a young age to such talent, it's easy to get jaded.
Jim's show is a delight.
